I think I know what broke. There is a pin with a plastic guide in it that slides up and down in a metal channel twards the back of the door. The pin likely came out of the window channel.

I have a "spare" window channel with pin and guide, but the pin is a little loose. If you stuck a tack weld on it I'm sure it would be fine. If you want it, it is yours free.

how about a driver window that clicks and bangs on the way up, and will only go up if the door is open, not when closed? The rivet slots on the inside are worn out, there is some jbweld holding them in place, not working too good apparently.

I have an entire spare drivers door/window. Take yours apart and take a picture of what is broken. I'll send whatever you need for free. Or... bring it over to my place and I'll fix it. It might be a long drive!

I took my old door assembly and cut the skin off it. This allows you to see how it works inside. If you need any of the parts in the picture let me know. Anyone is welcome to pirate the picture and re-use it in a website. I think it is a very usefull picture.

It is possible to replace the window mounting rail. You will need to drill out the 3 rivets holding the glass to the rail, remove the glass, replace the rail and reinstall the glass. You'll need some parts from the dealer to properly reinstall the glass as well as some bolts and locknuts from a hardware store to use instead of rivets.

It is tricky. You'll need to remove ALL the window tracks to free up the mechanism enough for it to have the range of motion required to do the job. The fact it is under spring tension and you cant really see what you are doing makes it even harder. I can almost do it blindfolded now because I've recently rebuilt both my doors, but it was not easy to figure out the best way to do it. can make a video of myself taking it apart if that would help. Maybe I should do that anyway, just so I can post it as general knowlege. I posted pictures in a PAST THREAD showing all the hardware required to mount the window to the mounting rail.

I think my main problem is that the fiberglass composite stuff is worn out, where the rivets go? Is that piece alone replacable?

Post a picture of the problem, I'll give it a look over.

The only thing I can think of is the rear window up-stop. It is a black piece of plastic about 1" square the has a threaded hole through the center of it for a bolt to fasten it. It sits in the top of the vertical window channel twards the rear of the door and serves to stop the guide when it gets to a certain height.

If it were missing, guide #3 would be able to get out of its track while in the full-up position, and the window would be able to move front-to-rear.

Post a picture of the window guts and I'll let you know what I make of it.
