Well if you have ever installed a shifter in a old four speed (i.e. muncie) then the the 5.0 shift will be cake. you just pull out your console, remove some boots and bolt it on to you t56. Now compare that to all that linkage on the old muncie1967 VW Bug 2.3L Ford SVO Inline 4 w/ Turbo, Sand-Drag VW Trans Axle, Race this Import.

The hardest part is getting the console out of the way so you can access the shifter. There are 4 bolts holding the shifter to the top of the tranny. Remove the bolts, pull up on the old shifter to remove it, clean the sealant off the top of the trans, make sure the nylon "cup" is still in the hole the shifter ball fits into. Apply some RTV to the top of the tranny, bolt in the shifter. Cut the old rubber shifter boot (not the fake leather boot on the console) to fit over the new shifter. Tighten the bolts that hold the lever to the shifter with an allen head socket, and tighten them as tight as you can, or they will vibrate loose eventually. Reinstall console.Fred
