  • BBK headers

I've been thinking of getting some BBK ceramic coated headers, and was wondering how many people here have them. Were they easy to install? Any problems with them? Did you have to do anything special while installing them? Are they good? About how much of a gain in HP would I get from them? And does anything have to be wrapped cause of the heat? Thanks for your info.

I didn't wrap anything when I installed my headers. I don't know if anything needs to be in the LT1 setup though...

As for ease of install, you are going to need at least ramps - preferably a lift to get under the car. It's a pretty simple operation, but time consuming.

Shorty's or LT's. The shorty's will of course be much easier to intall than the LT's. Don't expect anything in excess of 15 RWHP with just a header install. With the addition of a ORY pipe and good "cat-back" exhaust, you could see 25 RWHP. BBK's are a decent bang-for-the-buck header.

If the headers will be coated they will actually reduce under hood temps.

I installed a set of BBKs a few months ago. It was a complete pain in the ***, and the kit overall was fairly ******. I still have exhaust leaks that I've tried to fix several times, namely due to the way the kit makes you cut your Y-pipe and attach their intermediate pipe to it on a slightly curved section. Make sure to have patience, beer, and helpers if you want to install them without wanting to drive the car into a lake.
