Can't say we've had that specific problem, but we did have problems with Ford and my mom's Ranger. Ever since she got it, the brakes would squeel every time you pressed the pedal. She kept taking it in and the stealer said it was fine. Finally her brakes were on the verge of going, she took it to another stealer and found out the rotors and calipers were shot. Put enough pressure on them, they'll crack. That's what the first dealer, the one that said the brakes were fine, did after the second dealer and my mom went after them. Good luck man.

Toyota had a big issue a few years back due to oil sludging problems with some of their 4 cylinder motors. Even though Toyota claimed that the vast majority of their investigation proved to be the oil gelling problem was caused by improper maintenance, they still continue to pay for all of their customers problems.

My mom had a Celica GT and when the TSB came out, she took her car to a local Toyota dealer and they replaced everything at zero cost to her. I think she was guilty of being a oil change procrastinator.

I dont think Ive ever driven any vehicle longer than 6500 Km between oil changes. I just laught when people have sludge problems and never change their oil. I could probably go 7000-8000 KM on full synthetic, but it doesnt save that much money.

we are getting the old "you let your vehicles idle too long" poop. FBI, DEA, Homeland Sec., etc....sit and sit with engines running all the time....

well thats bull....thats not what causes sludge... short trips builds condensation, not hot engines....

we are going to fight ford on this one.... hey...... we have almost 200,000 vehicles in the fleet now.... they dont want to play.....maybe we wont buy.....

My grandfather bought a 2004 F150 Lariet and he was told he must buy oil and a filter from a dealer and keep all reciepts if he wants to ever have it covered by the warrntey.

Ken......I would also contact Penzoil on the problem in addition to fighting Ford. Another thing about Ford (and Honda) that I would be concerned about is the fact their recommended oil is now 5W-20W. I would be real concerned about that in terms of engine longetivity if that's what you are using in the fleet. Alledgedly it was done to increase CAFE ratings. Here are a few links you might want to look at. Pay special attention in that second link to the "usefull life" of engines using this oil.
