    hey guys
do any of you know if there is a way to build your own ram air for a 93-97 formula.

Probably wouldn't be too hard at all. Looks pretty simple to me actually. I mean, what they want for the kit is outrageous considering all you really get is a plastic box with a tube

Ram air and cold air are not the same thing. Most every kit offered for these cars is cold air. In order to have ram air, you either need the hood with ram air scoops and matching airbox or fabricate you own ram air scoop that would reside under the front bumper cover on the driver's side just below the airbox. There is a kit that is manufactured for just such an installation, but I don't know who makes it. It should be simple enough.... sheet metal or dryer ducting mounted under the car with a hole cut under the bumper cover so that the air gets ducted, cut out the airbox for additional flow, should be a hour job at most.

Some people made an intake scoop underneath the car to "force" air into your excisting air filter chamber. It required them to cut some of the air dam off as well.

This link has a thread with a similar question and a link or two with some additional info.
