  • New Poster: WS6 got away from me on EBAY so question about Trans AM Formulas

A beautiful Trans AM WS6 got "buy it now"ed away from me when I was right about to do the same. My question is, do the Trans AM Formulas handle just as well as the WS6? I'm aware of the lack of Ram Air, but I want to be able to Auto cross. Also, when did traction control become an option?

even with a WS6...to autox in a f-body you'll be doing a lot of upgrades.

my TA suspension was worlds better than anything I drove, but you know it has limits...

I'm not sure about the WS6..how it differs other than stiffer shocks and larger antiroll bars...but you'll have to upgrade a lot to get an f-body to handle well...not that it can't in stock form, but our chassis can do a lot more with a few mods.

Sub-frame connectors are a must I tell you that if you plan to AutoX...I planning to get a set in a few months.

The guys will put more input...give a sec.

no; they dont. the ws6 has 17" rims with 275/40r17's, the ta's have 16" rims with 245/50R16's.......

the ws6 has a bigger front sway bar and better shocks.....

rear gears, auto got 3:23's, ms-6 3:42's... which also the TA and formula got, except...with an auto..you had to make the 3:23's an option on them, otherwise they were 2:73's...... which...wont be good for autocross...for sure.

this stuff is easily taken care of with aftermarket additons........ so is the ram air.......

traction control? dont remember...at least back to 99...maybe 98...

OK! So I found a Trans Am Formula near me. It's a 97 with 87k on the clock. 6 speed, for 6 grand. Completely stock. Gonna go take a look at it and if everything is in order pick it up. If it's six grand, I'm going to take out a bigger loan to cover some aftermarket suspension and possibly an exhaust or whatever is suggested. So Basically, with a two grand budget souly for parts and labour, what would you buy Keep in mind I want to Auto X

If your going to be upgrading your suspension anyways and if the main thing you'll do with the car is auto-x then a formula with no options might be your best choice since it'll save you some weight to start with.

I've got traction control on my 95. I dont know why you would want it. Even when i am driving on a sheet of ice i leave it off. Maybe im just old-school I would take it off, but im sure its connected to a zillion different electrical components. New cars scare me
