  • brake light & fan question...

well, i ran my camaro up the other day, it was fairly nice out about 45ish. anywho a few things im going to have to do to it before i get it on the road in the spring again... my brakes are spongy an my brake light which normally lights when the ebrake is on is constantly on... also, are there aftermarket fan assembly to replace the stock one, the reason being, the stock fan assembly hits the s/c pulley an rubs/squeaks as well as the crank pulley sometimes since the assembly is loose, i might just see if i can bolt that on there somehow but i would like to see if they had any aftermarket fan assemblies a little smaller for lt1's w/ centrifugal blowers.. thanks

You may need to adjust or replace the e-brake light switch which is mounted on the e-brake handle assembly, in the consol.

The sc belt touching the fan shroud can be remidied by making sure the fan shroud is installed properly in its mounts, otherwise simply notch the shroud where the belt touches it, with a file or small grinder.

Your fans sit on supports there are no bolts they can easily be knocked off if your pushing on them doing work under the hood. Try looking into that first.

The "BRAKE" light is dual function... it will come on when the E-brake is on, and it also indicates a pressure differential between the front and the rear braking circuits. Its connected to a switch in the distribution block on the side of the ABS unit. Given that you feel a "spongy" brake pedal, this would be a confirmation that you have low fluid, a leak or air in the system.
