  • Anyone get a rattle after installing new exhaust?

I got the SLP loudmoth on a while back, and for some reason, when the car is cold, the exhaust will rattle at idle, and low RPM's.. This goes away after like 10 mins of driving, but it annoys the hell out of me while it's there.

Is this a common thing? Sounds like a heatshield vibrating or something.. I haven't jacked it up yet to look, figured if someone else had it they can point me in the right direction.

    Thanks!

its probably rumming on the cat heat shield, or its touching some where over the rear axle. its very tight in through there, and it absolutly has to be perfect. jack it up under the rear axle so it still has the weight of the car on it, and look to see if it is touching any where, and also look for any shiney spots. if there are, loosen a clamp or two and gently pry it back away from the shiney area and see if that helps.

I never felt the vibration after I put mine on. My buddy's ram did this though, after a couple months. His heat shield on his cat is vibing I think.

I think a bad cat will make a little noise once it starts going bad. Not sure though.

Check the Y-pipe to I-pipe connection. I had a rattle in mine that I just fixed - I got an exhaust clamp through Jegs - it was about 10 bucks and is far superior to the brackets that came with my kit.

My exhaust rattle that I was troubleshooting all summer turned out to be the honeycomb thing inside the cat broke loose and rattled when it was cold. Then it rattled even more and I finlly took it off and verified that was the problem and pounded out that bad mo fo with a pipe and now I haven't got a cat inside there. It wasn't for trying to comply, Officer, but the cat gods were against me and I was tired of returning those RANDOM cats for warranty, so mine's hollow now, the exhaust is louder, but that's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Most of the rattling i saw was from the way it was hung because if those rubber thinds are to loose on the hangers it will vibrate against the sheild easy
but i dnot have an f-body so i dont know what one looks like underneath

Ive had my Loudmouth on for a year and half now and I have not had any kind of rattle at all. The only thing that I expierienced at all is the drone from it. But Ive learned to deal with that.
