So I took my car (2001 V6 Camaro) to get the oil changed today, and was told that the rear diff is leaking.

It's got about 48,500 miles on it - I admit I wouldn't think the diff should be leaking, since that's not really high mileage, but then again I don't really know anything about it. Should I be worried?

I'm definitely going to get it fixed, but is that something best done by a dealer, or some other type of repair place? Any idea on what the cost would probably be (since the warranty is expired)?

It's a known prob, and not that easy to fix right. Just document EVERYTHING in case they fix the leak and trash the gears from not getting the pinion nut back to the same exact position and torque.
