  • nitrous..wet or dry kit?

I found a great deal on a wet nitrous kit. What are ups and downs in comparison to a dry kit? Hesitant on getting it because i do not know which one is better or worse, please help.

Might want to include basic info like the year of your car, and the engine.... that will affect the answer.

      I'm partial to "dry" systems.....

go with the wet kit i have a dry kit on my trans am and it is running lean 14 to 1 air fuel. it should be 12 to 1 but you also pay more w/ wet than dry . also my dry only gave me 75 horse to the rear wheels with a 100 shot.

Are you using the NOS-5177 dry kit? If so, surprised you are having problems with it. Car below is pulling 10.8@126mph with 125-shot from the 5177 kit. If you have the wrong A/F ratio, you may have a distribution problem... did you use two nozzles on opposite sides of the airbox as recommended in the instructions? Poor distribution and incorrect A/F ratio will obvioulsy reduce power gain..... not to mention break the pistons and burn up the plugs, if not worse.

I HOOKED EVERYTHING UP RIGHT DID THE JETS ON THE SIDES. I DIDNT CHANGE ANYTHING IN THE FUEL SYSTEM THATS WHY ITS RUNNING LEAN. NOW I RUN TURBO BLUE AND I HAVE A NOS FUEL PUMP. BUT I WAS ONLY TURNING A 13.01 @116 WITH A 50 SHOT AND NO BOTTLE WARMER. NOW I HAVE THE 100 SHOT AND NEW ADDITIONS TO THE INTAKE SYSTEM AND SHOULD RUN A 12.7 ON A WARM DAY. I HAD IT ON THE DYNO IN MAY AND IT WAS 400 AT THE WHEELS WITH A LID ,100 SHOT, SLP LOUDMOUT, AND LG2 Y PIPE NO CATS. THATS FROM THE FACTORY 305. IT WAS 330 W/O NOS.

I've got a dry kit on my LT1, and the 120-125 shot (NOS just gives an "average" not an "exact" on the dry kits according to their tech support) put 100 at the wheels through a bad clutch and bald 17X9.5's with low tire pressure and 10 codes logged in the computer. I figure that's not too shabby considering the car has 15-17% driveline loss anyway.

I don't know how the kits are for the LS1's, but the LT1's REQUIRE an extra fuel pump to prevent running lean. You also have to put different fuel injectors in because the stock ones can't handle the pressure increase. I put down 370 WHP total and 450 ft/lb of torque out of a 70,000 mile LT1. Also ran a 12.36.

I have a direct port wet kit on my bike and I don't like it. The fuel and the nitrous hit at the same time, but when you let off the button the nitrous is gone way before the extra fuel is simply because of the nature of the two different "fuels". Nitrous flows at 900+ psi and fuel at 42, plus nitrous is a gas and gasoline is a fuel so it drips. It's not a big deal in a car, but on that bike, when you let off the button, the sucker wants to die because it's so much fuel still coming out of the lines.
