  • Skip shift 02

I have lived with it for a couple weeks - got to go. What do I need to do to eliminate "CAGS" on my 02 WS6. Is it the same as my 94 Formula - just unplug the harness? Don't want any check engine lights!

Pulling the connector off any year... 1994 and newer, will set a code for the missing solenoid - a scan of you 1994 would have turned up DTC 84. In 1996 and newer, it also turns on the SES light. You can either buy one of the "skip shift eliminators".... about $25-30. OR you can get a 2.2Kohm, 1/2 watt resistor, and plug it into the harness connector after you pull the connector off the solenoid. That will prevent the code and the SES light.

Check out the "how to" writeup database available on some of the websites. One of the better ones is:

      Project TransAM Install Guides

There are also good ones run by "Install University" and Brent Franker.

If you'r interested in a skip shift eliminator I have one. I don't need it after getting my PCM programmed. E-mail me if you're interested.
