  • Finished Delteq install....good news, it works, bad news...>>

car fired right up after the install, no problems there. Then I go for a test drive and my "check gauges" light comes on....look down and the car is BOILING.....I'm like WTF?? I have an electric water pump (Meziere) and the car never runs over 160......I can't think of anything for the life of me that could have caused the overheating to occur because of the Delteq install. Nothing could have affected the EPW could it?? All my hoses are fine, how can I check my EWP to see if it's crapped out on me? Coincidence....? I'm puzzled....

I'm guessing you had to take the wp off to install the delteq system? If so make sure the pump is hooked back up right. Also did you bleed the system well after the install?

you don't have to take the water pump off when installing the Delteq so I don't think it could be air in the system....

Since all you've done is slice into the harness, check the voltage to the pump at the motor and the harness connections that you spliced into. Also jump the pump wires with heavy gauge wire directly to the battery to see if the pump cuts in. It would be a good idea with an electric pump to wire in an indicator lamp. That way if the pump dies, it won't complete the circuit and the bulb goes out. Electric water pumps have been known to crap out. Also, the imperller could be seperated, allowing the motor to spin but not move any water. You'll just have to start at the basics and keep moving til you find it. Dan, do you have a trailer yet? If you do, load it up and bring it over.

yeah the problem is tomorrow is the big Tampa vs. West Palm Beach F-body showdown at Bradenton and here I am with my car crapped out on me....sux! I tested the wires from the pump last night and got power on the positve wire but couldnt get the ground wire to trip the circut tester when I cliped in on the postive terminal. I didn't touch any wiring to the EWP during the install so I can't think why the ground would suddenly go bad..... I'll try to reground it tonight....hopefully I didn't cook the EWP motor when the car overheated.....

no trailer yet Joe, this was alot easier when you lived across the street...

Sorry broh. I miss ya! Doubtful you cooked the WP motor due to it not functioning. I would be more worried about the headgaskets, etc. BTW, you really need to wire an inline indicator for the water pump.
