42,000 miles... ... I think it's a fairly good price. I've had dealers offer me $14.5-$16K for it.

KBB quotes $20,465 as private party value. Of course this is without the mods! $18,250 if you were to trade at a dealer.

Yep, and if you ask any dealer about KBB, they'll kinda laugh at you because the values are a bit high.
I know two guys who are used car dealers both of them say that they use KBB to make the car look like its a steal by saying its $1000 under the KBB price.
One must always remember that Car Dealers are theives with a licence. Trade in is not usually as good as they can make it sound. An Example is if you buy a car for cash. You can get a great deal they drop money off like its going out of style. but if you do a trade in they can fudge the money around droping the price of the car and making it look like they are giving you more for your car. A car dealer will always make money, and they never do a deal unless they will come out on top. Black book value is lower than blue book, because blue book is made up from current market values and what things are actually selling for. Insurance companys always use black book because thay can pay out less.(and they are the true criminals in the world) And that is what a dealer will use too. I fully support the sell privately and buy with cash even if you have to get a loan from the bank. Its always a better deal. IMO
