The LS1's direct fire, 8 coil-near-plug system is already about as good as it gets. I run a copy of the LS1 system on my LT1, and I'm spraying a 300-shot for a total of 800HP. A friend of mine used a replica of the LS1 setup on his 97 30th SS, pushing 1,325HP out of a Gen 1 small block 383 running more than 20# of Vortech boost.
MSD does make a "Blaster" coil replacement for the LS1 which claims higher spark voltage, but many people using the LS1 style coils will select one of the stock "truck" application coils. I don't know the part number, though.
If you do want to go to the MSD setup, you need to find a way to adapt a pair of their DIS-4 4-channel units. I'm pretty sure its been done. But I really question whether you need that kind of setup.
