Hey guys, I have a 91 GMC Sonoma with the 4.3 v6. A couple years back i was really stupid and me and my buddy went curb bogging after we got a really nice rain. I ended up going through some really deep water and my motor ended up stalling, and quit. I ended up gettin it back running but sence that day the beast has never ran the same. It runs good when its cold, but when she warms up it starts to bog out and chug. Ive changed the spark plugs and that helped a little bit for a while, but it went right back to crap. I was wondering what things i need to replace or what the water did to the motor. Any answers would be great, were moving back into town now and were wonderin if we should just get rid of this. Or if she still has some life in her. Thanks, Happy Holidays.

sounds like ignition...new plugs, yes...new wires? or even new distributor? I don't think 91 4.3s had coils.

you get any water in the engine?

there are tons of things that could be making it like crap...but I'd start with the basics...

you know how kids are you see water your going to drive through it we just had a big rain and the water was running along the curbs so of course i was driving along the curb ripping the water into lawns. Then all of sudden i turned into a driveway to turn around and boom dead, i thought oh @#$# im screwed, but i dont know what got in the engine or what, didnt think much could happen if you werent going through 3-4 ft water. Im assuming this is when the truck went to crap, cuz she ran fine before that, but ill check those things out that you listed. Thanks Lemg

If your Camaro is a LT1, I would highly advise not driving it through large puddles or you'll be putting an OPTI distributor on it soon after.

I realize that but his signature is "JM94Camaro" which indicates he has a Camaro too. I was just making the statement I made because of the OPTI and his desire to drive through puddles that's all. It wasn't intended to be an answer to his question.
