  • performance applications and costs

I was recently thinking about doing some major performance work to my f-body. Some people have told me that porting and polishing heads would do alot for the performance of the car. Can some of you members give me some advice on what to do about the project. Also where would be a good place to get some ideas from different competing companies on prices and products. As well how much do you think it would roughly cost to have them switched out and done? How much horsepower do you think I would see from it? Another question I have is about new camshaft choices. Some SLP camshafts are at their online store and are not too expensive. They have 3 stages of camshafts for the F-body design. The first says it will increase the hp by up to 25 hp. The second one says it will improve up to 35 hp. The third one says you will see gains of up to 45 hp. Is this believeable or not? Also does anyone have any idea of what it would cost to have a new camshaft installed roughly?

      Thanks

Thank you for your input. You have helped me out in the past with some other questions as well, and I appreciate your knowledge. I just bought the book off of Amazon.com

Yes, those claims on camshafts are realistic, and yes, head porting can give you some great results...

...but the last thing I would be looking to do is to go "bargain hunting" when you are tlaking about doing major internal work to the engine. None of this is cheap to begin with, so why wouldn't you be comfortable with paying a little more to make sure its done to the highest quality?

I'm not sure where the closest reputable tuner to you is - probably Thunder Racing in Louisiana. Too bad there isn't a closer one - like in Jacksonville or something
