  • NFB: More Tsunami video from Phuket

This is a horrible tragedy. I hope that they manage to implement some type of warning system in these Southern Asian countries.

realize that, in a couple of places, there was no time for warnings. first a 9 earthquake, then tidal waves right after it....in a matter of min.'s.......

but, your'e right, in the other countries, they had no idea. they just stood there, many of them, with camera's taking pics of the first couple of waves... they had no idea. thier father, thier fathers father, thier fathers fathers father neve heard of any such monster comming thier way......

what a tragedy in magnatude...... unreal.

There have been some satellite photos on the news, I forget which company captured them, that show the beaches in the area before, immediately before, and during the tsunami. The photos are incredible. You can see hundreds of people on the beach, then the next photo shows all the water getting sucked out to sea, then the final photo shows the giant wave craching ashore. The pics are incredible. Maybe someone can find them on the net, they might've been from Global Surveyor, or a similar sounding company.

For satellite photos of the tsunami's impact, go here http://www.digitalglobe.com/sample_imagery.shtml and then in the lower right corner click for "additional tsunami photos"

This is growing worse by the moment. According to MSNBC there is an estimated 6 million people still without access to any food or clean drinking water. There are still 10's of thousands missing and the threat of disease is sure to rear it's ugly head very quickly as communicable diseases such as Cholera begin to spread through the contaminated water still remaining inland. They are estimating that once disease, hunger, and the "unaccounted for" become part of the toll, this is will most likely be one of the worst natural disasters in history. It will only pale in comparison to the 2 major earthquakes in China in 1976 and 1556. These earthquakes killed an estimated 655,000 and 833,000 respectively.

Here is a little more dose of reality. This video shows how these areas were some of the hardest hit by the actual Tsunami:

I found some posts on another forum where these people actually are blaming the US government, in other words Bush, for this mess. They believe that the US government is using the HAARP http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/ facility to cause natural disasters.

Yep, I firmly believe that the current Bush Administration is responsible for Kobe Bryant "sexually harassing" Katelyn Faber, for Shaquille O'neal being brain dead, for staging the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers for the purpose of starting a war just as a front in order to steal oil from the Middle East, for placing large fans in the Southern Atlantic and stirring up so many hurricanes this year, and most of all for making John Kerry and John Edwards after losing the election.

No doubt about it, Bush is definitely responsible for all that is wrong in the world today
