  • Cooper Zeon 2XS Performance Tires

Hello, I need 4 new tires 275x40x17 for my z28, They are available here for $120 each which is obviously a great deal. However I cant find any opinions or reviews online because they are so new. They really look good. Does anyone know anything about these tires especially how well they hookup. I am also considering Kumho 712. Any input on those will be appreciated too.
    Thanks

I liked this line from the article

"Cooper offers a free 45-day road test on the new Cooper Zeon 2XS to assure complete consumer satisfaction."

Looks like they have a lot of faith in their tires

What if I'm dissatisfied after 45 days because there is no tread left on the rear tires?

A few years back while I was going through a divorce, I had to cut corners and went through two sets of Pep Boys Future Ultra Zs. They were Coopers... made for Pep Boys with their own house logo. I have to say they weren't bad at all. The first set lasted me 20K miles of lead footed driving and were adjusted out within the warranty. The second set lasted me a good 40K miles, very even treadwear, decent grip, good ride, stayed well balanced, etc. I even cut some 1.9 60's on them when they were pretty fresh. While not having the ultimate grip of some of the other ultra high performance (and ultra high $$ too), I can recommend Coopers for anyone on a budget. You could do alot worse.

As far as Kumhos, you have to watch what you do with them. Watch for cracking in the tread sipe areas. I've seen them come apart from drying out.

Cooper Tire Company is one of the few surviing American Tire Company's left. They do alot of aftermarket tires for folks, like joe said, pep boys... they do atlas, monach, stuff like that.. but they also have thier own line of tires, but unlike michelin and a couple of other companies, they sell A, B, and C level tires..aimed at different folks budgets. thier A level tires are up there with the best.... and they sell them slightly cheaper than michelin and others... so that when sombody uses them, they say "coopers are good tires"...and folks buy all levels as a result.

the tire you are looking at rocks...its one of the best bangs for the buck on the market.....without a doubt.

              go for it.

              wolfman said so.......

p.s. Lyle Campbell was the director of tech. sevices for cooper untill he retired 3 years ago..he's a consultant now... a good friend of mine for many years.. when they came out with this new line, he was quite estatic about it.. i got to do a "ride and drive" on 3 identicle vehicles, each with a diff tire and one with this one....... all comporable peformance tires from major manufs (cant mention names). the coopers out performed the other two...... Lyle was right.

I don't suppose they would have been brand "B" and brand "G" now would they?

It would appear that this is a better tire than the kumho 712. I just want something that hooks for a change, I will be willing to give up a little tread life for the lower cost. My car is slightly stronger than stock and my last tires were Pirelli p7000 supersports and they sucked, just would not hookup at all. This Cooper tire really really looks good and appears to be the best deal.
                  Thanks all

Kumho "suX" my friend. long story... but true. body cord and interbelt stabilization is far from acceptable for performance driving.

                            Ditto...

I have them on my TA and my brother had them on his formula. And I had there earlier version performance tire on my Formula (Cobra ZHP01's).

I love them. They hook well, they handle well, and they are awesome in the rain. I have never hydroplaned once with my Cooper tires (either type).

And they work great in the snow (as compared to other high performance tires.)
