    Hi everyone,

I have a question and I hope the vast knowledge of this forum can help me.

I have an 2002 Camaro SS with SLP LT headers and their high flow cat and 3" intermediate pipe.

I live in PA and we have emissions testing for state inspection. If this car is put on the tester will it pass?

    Thanks in advance

If it is just a sniffer test you should be fine. Just make sure to get the cat good and hot by driving around awhile before you go for the test.

If they do a thourough visual inspection like NJ, they may question you on the new cat.

But I think you'll be OK.

I'm not sure how emissions are in pennsylvania...
but if it makes you feel better, i know slp stands for "street-legal performance"

PA doesn't do a sniffer test, they only do a visual check to make sure components are there, a gas cap pressure test, and they check for obd II codes in the computer. There is no dyno type or tailpipe sniffer test in PA. You'll do fine as long as you aren't throwing codes. If you frequent one particular shop and give them all your business, they may go easy on you in certain areas. When I had my 97 WS6, I did all my own work but took it to one place (as I did all my cars) for inspections, tire work, etc and they saw and appreciated the condition I kept the car in. Last time I had it in for inspection before I sold it, they didn't even put it up on the lift or pull a wheel, they just did the obd emissions check so they had a record of it for the state, and checked for burnt-out bulbs and passed me for both emmissions and safety inspections.

OK, Sorry for the confusion. I am selling the car to a man in VA. I never needed the emissions test done because I kept the milage per year below 5,000. He told me that the emissions test needs to be run on the car before he can get plates on it in VA.

So the hotter the CATS are the better?

          Thanks again

I think everything should be fine, but yes, you want to get those cats nice and toasty before you do your emissions testing.

The cats probably won't be an issue for you. I didn't realize it before, but because your car is a 2002 and has the OBD-II computer - they will most likely just scan the PCM for codes.

That's how they do all the OBD equipped cars around here (Cincy, OH). No more sniffer test for me.

It sounds like there is no reason to worry about this, am I wrong with assuming that? Do they even hook it up to a computer for the test? Sounds like its kinda easy to "fool" the tester.... just don't put the probe in to far and it should read fine. Almost everything I find on the internet tells me there should be no problem, but SLP doesn't guarantee it.

                  Thanks for all your responses
