  • Suspension upgrade question

Finally able to do some work on the T/A and just put in the SFCs and a strut tower brace. I was thinking about a torque arm and LCA's next but had a question...Is a trailing arm an LCA, or are they different parts? Yes, I know that I sound like an inexperienced noob...

Plus, any suggestions for this? I'm going suspension before engine upgrades, and this seems like the logical next step (aside from springs).
'99 T/A WS6 w/ Borla cat-back, K&N, SLP SFC, SLP STB, BMR boxed LCA's, BMR Adj. torque arm, BMR panhard rod, BMR springs, and Short Stick
(a list I know, but if I don't put it here, I'll never write it down anywhere else)

The torque arm is bolted to the differential and extends foreward to the transmission tail housing. It is primarily responsible for keeping the differential from rotating opposite of the ring gear. The lower control arms locate the differential from front to rear, the panhard rod keeps the differential centered from side to side. I use BMR suspension parts; an adjustable torque arm, double adjustable panhard rod and tubular lower control arms with lower control arm relocation brackets. This package is much more rigid than the stamped steel factory parts and better controls rear end movement. I highly recommend upgrading the factory parts on even a stock car.

Thanks for the info - I'm going to be ordering a package sometime in the next few days, and it looks like BMR has a package with the parts that I'm wanting to add on...

Take a look at the Spohn Performance suspension components before you place your order.

Yes, the lower control arm is also called a trailing arm. When you decide on an LCA you also need to consider the LCA "relocation brackets". Mandatory on lowered cars, but extremely beneficial to stock ride height setups as well. Plants the tires for a significant increase in traction.
