door lock interchaniblty

hi the drivers side door lockmotor has bust off of the latch assembley on my 93 formula this hapend when the stud on the window frame broke off alowing the window to slide back and forth. it must have hit the lock motor quite hard as the lock motor fixing points are smashed. any way what i need to know is is it posible that the latch and lock motor from a 3rd gen will fit as a guy in our club has one that i can have for free thanks

i had to replace mine in my 1994, and the parts guy at the dealer said that they were almost all the same for all gm cars with electric locks, with very few exceptions. im not sure about the generation gap, but its worth pulling out your old one, and checking. if it is the same then bingo, if not you can run to the dealer and pick one up. my local chevy dealer has 5 in stock at all times and i think it was like $30 or so.

i have just checked the gm parts direct catlog and the part numbers dont match up so a 3 rd gen lock wont fit
