i think i have finaly killed the posi in my 93 formula as the car is manly used on the street (allbeit very hard ) it does see some track action. my question is how do i find out what posi unit i have fitted. a friend of mine has a brand new eaton posi unis that he bought for his 97 formula but has not fitted so it may be for sale. will this fit my car and is it the best option

The Eaton is the best choice and is rebuildable, the Auburn is not. The Eaton is biased toward straight line traction ala dragstrip performance. If you want excellent behaviors on a road course, go with the HD Torsen. It applies the power in a different way that will be of benefit in the corners.
