I too have hit an animal in my life. I came over a bridge at night at about 40, and at the base a possum suddenly came out. There was absolutely nothing i could do, and i rolled right over him. I'll never forget looking in the rear view mirror right afterwards, and seeing the now dead possum rolling on the ground . It may have only been a possum, but it upset me for a little while. I've swerved to miss a cat once also, and nearly hit the car next to me.
It's not your fault...it happens....the more you drive, the better chance it will happen some day. We may not feel good about it afterwards, but i guarantee you we would feel alot worse if we swerve to miss it only to cause major damage or hurt/kill someone else on accident.
Always be aware of your surroundings, and just be the best driver you can, that way you know if you have room to swerve or not when that split second decision comes.black 95 t/a, a4, beefed up tranny w/ higher stall converter, transgo shift kit, trans temp gauge, trans cooler, richmond 3.73's, loudmouth, hypertech programmer, 160 thermo, descreened maf, TB bypass and airfoil, trick flow intake elbow, underdrive pulleys, moroso cai, edelbrock panhard rod, bmr stb, slp sfc's, fiberglass firehawk hood, hawk pads, taylor wires, ngk plugs, royal purple fluids,...and hopefully more to come
