    Guys,

I have a bone stock 2001 Trans Am (manual trans w/ram air) and would like to make a few mods for a little more power. I'm not looking to change the heads/cam or supercharge it. What are your opinions on aftermarket air boxes, throttle bodies, MAF sensors, cat back systems, etc? Thanks fo your time, Mike

Short throw shifter and short-stick or sub-frame connectors would be my suggestion. Cheap and easy to install with very noticable performance enhancement.

Everything of what he said, and then some. A good set of LCAs, good cat-back, better lid and smooth bellows would also be good. I wouldn't touch the throttle body unless you're gonna follow with some headers pretty soon. Panhard rod and sway bars also help a lot. Don't forget a K&N or similar air filter also. Hope this helps.

i have the same car as yours and i learned alot from this forum, i was thinking to mod the engine and give more power BUT the thing is the problem with our car is the handling (if i'm not mistaken), so i would do is get sub-frame better suspension, panhar, swaybar(stuff like that) cos you cannot built a building with out good construction if i may say. and one thing i know for sure once you add more power to it it will never stop. non of guys here would say " they have enough horsepower on their car". so basicly i'm saying if you want to built your car started from bottom.

i hope that help and i hope you understand what i said

        good luck bro

I've been following the "suspension first, then the power" philosophy, too. The most noticable change came with the SFC's and a strut tower brace. The car went from gumby to a block of wood on rails. The difference is very noticable. I'm also adding on the LCA's, panhard rod, torque arm, etc. before I start to add more power. What's the use if you can't put it on the ground?

(a list I know, but if I don't put it here, I'll never write it down anywhere else)

this is simple if your not gonna change heads, cam and other stuff like that . go get some long tube headers.not slp's. qtp, kooks,or hookers will give you that little more power you wanted.then get some sort of cat back, not flowmaster. then you sould be happy w/ the car and the new sound it has. as for those other guys telling you to get suspension stuff it not a bad idea but its your money get want you want!!!

all airlids are pretty similar, and its a great mod to start with

short throw shifter and a shorter handle is also very important to crispen up the shifts (especially 2-3 shift)

long tube headers and a decent catback (a catback wont to its job without those longtubes

and then suspension is key, im not gonna reccomend brands, but its key.

i ran 13.0 (coulda done better) with a slp lid, slp shortshifter, pacesetter longtubes and a 3 inch borla exhaust...

all ive changed for this season is gears, clutch, and suspension...
