  • Pulling Harmonic Balancer

Can you guys give me a few tips on pulling the harmonic balancer off of a 99 LS1. Do you push against the crank shaft bolt? Also what brand of puller do you recommend?

go get a three arm gear puller from your local parts store. once you loosen the crank bolt.back it out a few turns and itstall puller to the inside of pulley.it may be a P I T A but once you get it in there turn puller until pulley hits the bolt.then take off the puller .loosen the bolt again and continue to do this until the pulley comes off . BE VERY CAREFUL dont loosen the crank bolt up to much you mit damage the threads in the crank. leave as much of the bolt in as possible. it my be very slow process but its the safe way to do it .now go get herrr dun!
