  • Strong possibility of a buyer

"Hello again, just wanted to let you know that we went to the credit union today to get the extra money for the car and we can give 17,000 for it. My girlfriend Stephanie has decided that this is definitely the car she wants if you will sell it for that. The only reason we are trying to get it for 500 less is due to the fact that she will have to pay the excise tax on the car, plus we will have to plan for travel expenses (we are in Oklahoma). If you will take that we can be up to get it within a week most likely, two weeks at the latest. Thanks, and please let us know. My phone number is (918) ***-5607 if you want to get ahold of me and Stephanie's number is (918) ***-1333. Also any other pictures or info you could give would be appreciated.

    Anthony"

Guys....................... if I've been posting a lot about this lately, it's because I really really don't know what to do.

This would get me about $10,000 CASH in hand, and get rid of the $500/mth payment, and the insurance payment..................

Remember, I live at home and want to move out, plus with the pending career change, I may be going through training and certification as an American Express Financial Advisor... which would mean I wouldn't get paid until I am certified. 60-90 days.........

I love my bird and wouldn't want to loose her but I'm gonna go againts everyone elses opinion so far. Get yourself out of debt get trained and once you can get yourself established then buy another TA or go for the Z06. Also a house is a good investment and a car is a bad one I'm sure you know that being in realestate. Anyways driving around the Cavi for a little while won't hurt and make buying another muscle car feel so much better when you do in the future.

The problem is that if I sell this car... that "when" becomes an "IF"

You obviously love your car Jay. But at the same time it seems like there are other things going on in your life that maybe should take precedent. Way back in the "dark ages" when I was young, married and had three small kids at home, I had to make the same choice as you. It was my family or my car. The Muscle Car I loved had to go and I always missed it. But you know what? After going three years without a car I loved, when I finally was able to buy another one, I appreciated it sooooo much more. To this day I have no regrets for selling the car to begin with. It was the right thing to do.

Ultimately however, you have to make the choice yourself. No one can do it for you.

                  I have a solution.

In 1998 it was time for me to "get all responsible and sh*t" I had just gotten married and was building a duplex for my wife and I to start a family in.

I was driving a 1995 Z28 with SLP's complete "Ultra-Z" kit installed. Wheels, gauges, ramair, TOTL exhaust.... the works. It had T-tops and leather too. I sold it and came out with $9,000 cash in hand, and eliminated the $475.00 / month payment.

I purchased a minty 1988 5.7 Iroc for $6,000 and put the remaining $3,000 twards the house. I of course had no more car payments.

I suggest you sell your car and use about $6,000 to buy a low mile LT1 car. Put the remaining $4,000 twards your "responsibilities" and live life without a car payment for a few years. The time will come when you will be able to afford a hotter car soon enough. Besides, LT1 cars arent too bad.

Seriously think about what I just said.

                    Well Said SS_CarGuy

He is right its your car and your decision that is a very good point. Look at it from every angle of it and decide. You'll have that voice in your head telling you whats right no matter what else you feel.

Also it'll be a when not an if, if you really want another car like your TA. Even if you'd end up meeting the girl of your dreams having kids and not able to afford $500 a month car paymet you will be able to pick up a LS1 car in 3 years for 10k or less. Look at LT1's right now they're constantly loosing value due to the fact there is better technology out there and now there's the LS2 out and LS7 coming so my guess would be in a few years the LS1 takes a huge fall in value. If you do get rid of it now while it still has a good bit of value and pick one up in a few years once a large drop has happened to them. Also if the new camaro comes out in 07 that should help with lowering the price some too.

                      HERE YOU GO

It's a blue 1995 Z28 M6 T-top with only 57,000 miles on it. $6195.00 It's even got a set of ZR1 wheels on it. I suggest you get something like this and drive it with pride knowing you own it outright. If you take good care of it, the car will hold its value nicely too. I bet the seller would take $5700 for it.

I think cars should just be put on hold for a while until I have the funds to do it right....... when I can start with a Z06 and tinker with to make it truly unstoppable.

I'm not going to go back in time to a mid-90s f-body... I wouldn't even buy an LS1 f-body right now. Unfortunately, these cars aren't going to do anything but lose value, and that would pretty much be as good as throwing my money away. It would be fun to have a car like that - but a pretty poor decision financially.......I would rather wait and drive my Crapalier until I can come back to a car like the Z06.

I think I can struggle through a few months or *gulp* years of the Cavalier............

I'm just worried about whether or not I can part with my baby... actually hand the keys to someone else... I know it makes all the sense in the world financially.

I wouldnt sell it if I were you, unless you sell it to me a 98-02 black ws6 6-speed leather t-top. Thats my dream car, as strange as this sounds, I would rather have the ws6 then I would a c5. I have to make an acception for the c6 z06 though cause its just bad. If I could afford it then I would take it off of your hands but lets face it, a 16 year old doesnt make much money working after school and on weekends.

I felt the same way about the 88 Iroc. A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do, though. I couldn't give up the hobby all together. I had to at least stay in the hobby. It is an addiction! If you give up all together, the chances are good that you may never have a chance get back into it. You'll meet some woman and she will want furniture, and a house, and a minivan. Trust me. Downsize now and survive to upgrade another day. Give it up completely and you may never get it back.

A few years of driving a Cavalier, living at home, and not getting any ought to put you in good shape

Just kidding... mighty sorry for your plight bro. Maybe you should get a job as a tennis instructor or Cabana boy at a resort so you can shmooze rich bored trophy wives, and make cash on the side.
