I got sick of the long stick that comes on the Pro 5.0. I love the look, slanted to the right and all, but I wanted something shorter. I figured it'll look nicer and maybe help a little with my shifts.
Here's how I did it.
First mark the shifter, just below the old threads. I used a marker, then a pipe cutter to get me started.
Next, take a sawzall and cut through it.
Now, use a grinding wheel to smooth off the top and get any fray off the stick.
Put the stick in the car, and place the boot over it.
I decided to use helicoils. This will help keep my options open. I took my B & M shifter off my Conquest, cause that thing won't be running for a while. That stock "ball" that came on the camaro is nasty too, I like this one better.
I put the bottom lock of the shifter over the rod, then hammered the helicoil on the rod. Make sure you use a helicoil that fits tight!
Now just screw the knob on and you're done. Congrats, you just saved 20-40 bucks on not buying a short stick off someone. Use it for a nicer knob than the stock ball

of them seem to touch Summit. Get it from Summit, free shipping, small handling charge and quick delivery. If you want to buy from one of the sponsors, I'd say go with LM Performance. Never had a complaint with them and still cheaper than from SLP directly. It feels awesome and worth the $35.
