  • Oh nooo...Car wont stay started!!!!

So i go Into my garage, lift up the car cover and start my car. I was gonna take it around the block because im going through withdraws right now because i miss her. So anyways, as im about to turn to get inside, i notice the exhaust note change a bit and the car started to putter out.
she stayed on for about a minute and i jump in and turn her over again and she starts right up but only stays on for about 30 seconds. . I then notice the smell of fuel. I tryed to turn her over again and the same thing happened but it stayed on for and even shorter period of time. I even tried to press down the gas a bit to try and keep it running but it still went out. Could this be my fuel pump or what guys. I Just changed the fuel filter about 3 months ago. This really drives me nuts because when you think you are going forward, life always pulls you two steps back. Please help me out.

My wifes mini van did this. It turned out to be a clogged IAC solonoid. Here is the picture of yours. You might try taking it out and cleaning it and spray up in the port on the throttle body.

When I had mine stored it did the same thing after it would sit for a week or two. Just keep starting it, keep it running by holding the gas pedal. It'll stay running.

You can also try unplugging the pcm fuse for a minute, then cranking again.

put a fuel pressure gauge on it. See if you are losing pressure.

Like TraceZ said check the fuel pressure. We chased that with my dad's 1998 bonneville out of nowhere the fuel pressure would drop to zero. We would restart it and we could even get 10 miles on it before it happened again. A new fuel pump fixed the problem.

              Good Luck..

If its been sitting you could possibly have gotten moisture in your gas tank. Also mine did what your describing right after I did a header install and forgot to hook up the power brake booster line. I know this sounds crazy but small animals can get up in can chew on wires\hoses I'm not really sure how long your cars been sitting or where its at but about anything could be a possibility.
