  • Hi, everyone. I'm new.

Well, I might get my first F-body here pretty soon. It's a 2000 Z28. Anything I should know?

I'd recommend creating a signature showing what cars you currently own. It would also be nice to know how old you are, what experience you have, etc...

Your screen name is interesting. Did you know John? Also, what is the significance of the 427TT in your name? Do you have a 427 TT vette or something?

Welcome to the best F-body forum on the web! I'm sorry I'm so curious about your screen name and such. I didn't mean to give you the 3rd degree.

Well, I'm 17, and the reason I'm looking into the Camaro is because I'm collecting insurance money because my truck got totaled ('98 F-150).

Nope, I don't have a Lingenfelter. Just fascinated by them.

Common problems on are cars for the 2000 model year include:

        Weak/slow power window motors
dash covers that crack in the sun
excessive wear on the drivers side seat bolster
sun faded paint / headlight lenses

Also take great care to inspect how the automatic transmission shifts. Does it slip? If it is a manual is the clutch in good shape?

The LS1 motor didnt have any really bad problems in 2000. It's a very solid powerplant.

I'm currently looking at 2 of them right now.

White Z28: Year 2000, 68684 miles, $9980. Loaded, power everything, leather, automatic.

Black Z28: Year 2000, 57465 miles, $10000. Pretty nice, but probably not quite as good-looking as the white one. Manual transmission.

                Hey

Welcome, I'm a newbie also but everyone is cool and there is a tone of useful information. I think you should go with the 2000 Z28 with the 6 spd, but hey I'm kind of biased since my car is a 2000.

                    That's what I was thinking. I know I was paying $250 a month when I was 23!!

Go to www.lowermybills.com and do an insurance quote. They'll send your info to a dozen companies and tell you who is cheapest.

                    Good luck!

Then again, you might just want to have your parents insure it and have you the "primary driver" on a different car. It's still going to jack their policy way up to cover that car and have you on the policy.

                      Welcome!

I'm 19, i can relate to the insurance costs !! It's worth it though, haven't regret it one bit. Any question you ever have will be answered by these guys, they're about as knowledgeable to F-Bodies as it comes.

My vote goes for the LS1 T/A
black 95 t/a, a4, beefed up tranny w/ higher stall converter, transgo shift kit, trans temp gauge, trans cooler, richmond 3.73's, loudmouth, hypertech programmer, 160 thermo, descreened maf, TB bypass and airfoil, trick flow intake elbow, underdrive pulleys, moroso cai, edelbrock panhard rod, bmr stb, slp sfc's, fiberglass firehawk hood, hawk pads, taylor wires, ngk plugs, royal purple fluids,...and hopefully more to come

It can't be much more than it was when I had my truck. It's a 4x4, and I've had a few speeding issues

$10,000 for a 2000 T/A is like getting away with murder. Go for it.

I'm suprised you guys don't know the drill by now. A 17 year old cannot afford a $10,000 car and full coverage on it, especially a camaro. period.

I assume your parents will be flippin' most of the expense?

Anyway, IMO, I would get the black z28. It has a manual trans and less miles, no consideration! Camaro's are so much nicer looking than Firebirds, it's sic. Firebirds are too gaudy, like all pontiacs. Femenine looking too, all curvey. Get the raro

You're entitled to your opinion, but in my opinion, I think that's a **** thing to say, especially on a F-Body board where a bunch of us own Firebirds.
