    This is ridiculous. My 97Z vs the 01 ss my buddy drives (I won't call it his, it's daddy's ).

    Tonight was ridiculous. The last time we ran it he couldn't pull... Well, I've only done two things to this car, and we ran it tonight for the first time since the summer. He has nothing. My nose was ahead of him, then when I hit second... It was just tragic. Do I got like an LT4 under there already or something? I'm starting to wonder if that car is totally stock... Never ran another SS so I can't say, but I've yet to meet an LT1 z28 that I didn't roll.

    Bad driver can only go so far. Maybe his car is whacked... It hasn't seen the best treatment in his hands. Also, he always rolls at a high rpm. Like, going 45 in second gear all the way down the highway cause it "Sounds cooler." Could that mess his car up and make it weaker?

    This is driving me nutz. This is why I so underestimated the LS1 when I was new here!

    mayber you have one of those "one in 5000" lt1's thats perfect right out of the box. our hawk has one. with only bolt ons, it chirps third (a4!) when i had my compTA..and both cars were stock, way back in 97... i would'nt run mary in her hawk..and i was a 6 speed...she'd spank me good......

    still...that ls1 should be pulling you in third.

      We didn't make it to third. I kept pulling slowing when we hit second. I don't know, he would let off once he saw me pull on him, we couldn't get to third. Oh well, it doesn't matter anyways, I was just wondering. He runs a 13.6, so I don't think it's too out there for me to beat him.

        If he's running a 13.6 then he's not too bad a driver and the car's not too "whacked out". 13.6 may be a bit slow for an LS1, but I think it's prett average for an average driver. You probably just have a strong runner, or maybe a previous owner installed gears, or something else.

                yea my 97 was a perfect car, auto ran 13.7 as it was, then I threw some things together for her

                However, in this case I am gonna have to opt for a way bad driver, I have an 01 ss now and certainly no stock to lightly moded lt-1 is gonna be able to even hang......I've had my share of run ins.....these cars, however, are extremely hard to get the hang of when racing....especially if it is pops car and you don't drive it everyday.....again, I think I got the 1 in 5000 car again but this one's an m6

                  My friend has a camcorder. I'm going to get him in the car with me. Next nice day I'll see if he can come out with the car. I want to get this on video

                  I know the LS1 is a lot faster. I think he may have gotten a lemon maybe? If you ran 13.6 with an auto lt1, and he's running that in an m6 01 SS, something isn't right...

                      around here my car is pretty much considered a factory freak. It will chirp 2nd hard. A4 too. I've def hung with the local ls1's and even beaten a few, but probably about 85% time a ls1 should come out on top of an lt1. its just the way it is, but that only makes me want to build my car up more lol. maybe his compression is screwed up or it could be something else. possibly his shifting. who knows. have somebody else run the car against you and that will tell you if its the driver or not.

                        We were going to switch cars on the way back. When I pulled on him, he said when I shifted gears he saw sparks fly outta my tails. I wanted to see, so we were gonna swap cars.

                        But he had too much to drink at the bowling alley, so I told him he wasn't driving my car.
