for sure jay. It won't be an lt-1 come spring though, so we can't really see what your LS-1 will do to it in LT-1 form. I would really like to see what this car will do now, but I'm not going to waste any sun-shine time this summer in the garage putting the heads on. I want this car to run all summer, not be down at all for any reason

I don't mess with LS1's anymore, call it a lesson learned. I pull ahead at first, and then watch them pull up and pass after the 1/8th mi. I have been running consistantly at about 13.6, with a best of 13.466(pulling 6degrees at 93mph to the trap). I love my LT1, but LS1's pull hard after 3rd, so I give credit where credit is due. Last few times at the track I took a buick GN down 3+ times (almost certain he is stock), and edged out 2 typhoons. One of the Typhoons was a friends that was lightly modded.

My car was not a factory freak. Mabey that LS1 needs a tune up, or you got the freak of all factory freaks. My suggestion would be to try running him from a 40mph roll. If he doesn't pull with that advantage, he needs to hand the keys over to someone who can drive, or a mechanic.

well speaking of factory freaks at the track over here about 2 years ago a guy in a "bone stock" 2002 35th ann. camaro ran a 13.05.....that guy was astounded(sp) he couldnt belive it, his car was bone stock and he was the only owner no mods nothing and he was on stock tires and everything but the guy was an excelent driver, had a racing background but still how much faster can u run? but that was the best he ran his other runs werent as good.

I'll take a piece of that action.

My lowly 13.0s @ 107 with an LT-1 should cover ya.

Besides, production tolerances and weight differences make the performance of cars all across the board. Even in the magazines a bone stock SS convertible with an automatic was only in the mid to high 13s, yet a stick shift coupe is in the low 13s. I've taken many an LS1 out of the hole. Beating them to the 1/8th mile is no big feat. Holding off their charge though the end of the 1/4 is what will count. After that, forget it... you'll get walked...... ego is not going to make up for that fact.

13 flat isn't THAT astounding... there's several people who have broken 12s with a stock LS1. I used to think it was once in a blue moon, but after hanging around ls1tech for a while, I realized that a lot of real seasoned racers had accomplished it. It still is the minority, but it can definitely be done.

Back in 98 I saw a C5 vette at the track that was bone stock except for a cat-back run a 12.85. Watching from trackside, it didn't look that impressive out of the hole until about the 330' when it looked like the hand of God just came down and pushed it along. The thing just took off after it wound up and got traction.

Yeah you are playing with an LS1 when it is most vulnerable - 0-40 mph. I have a buddy with an LT1 - I was really surprised how well he kept up until ~ 40 - then I pulled on him hard. However, LT1 vs LS1 can still come down to a driver's race (the better driver wins) if both are stock (is there such a thing?)
