Assuming your screen name includes the info on your car, there are at least 3 electric pumps available for the LT1. The CSR (formerly "CSI") has a longer rated life than the more popular Meziere electric pump, which is only rated as 2,000 hours, and has been known to fail. Summit now sells their own electric LT1 pump, that is rated at 10,000 hours and costs less than either of the above.

The main drawbacks of an electric pump.... 1) flow is "constant" and never varies, meaning it is pumping more than the stock pump at idle, and less than the stock pump at max rpm. 2) If the pumps fails usually the first you know about it is when the coolant temp gauge hits the red. You can add a pilot light of some sort to allow you to determine that at least you have a good power supply to the pump and haven't blown a fuse or lost a wire, but its hard to tell when the pump itself fails.

The shop that built my stroker absolutley refused to use an electric water pump, claiming that with the limited flow capabilities, there was no way it could support the requirements of an 800HP nitrous motor. I have been following several LT1 boards for 7 years, and have seen both good and bad results on electric pumps used on "street" cars. Definitely "saves" HP, but there are risks.
