  • electric cutout size

I just got my Qtec Borla electric cutout in...what is the diameter of the hole supposed to be? At the smallest part, mine is 2.5625", and the largest part is 2.75". Is this correct? I always thought it would be really close to 3", but maybe the smaller size is to make sure the butterfly doesn't get jammed in the pipes?

Gee, thanks for telling me you got it man lol . And here I thought we were pals j/k lol

    *** EDIT ***

They state its supposed to be a 3" cut-out, but it may be slightly smaller for fitment. Do the ends line up with the tail-pipe and tip-pipe? I.e., is the cutout smaller than the pipes? I'd give them a call tomorrow morning, first thing.

lol sorry man...I literally posted this 2 minutes after the UPS guy dropped it off.

The fitment is perfect though. I put one of the block-off plates next to it, and they are identical...at least the bolt holes. It was about 1/16" smaller than the largest plate Borla made...which is about 2.75". But looking at all the pictures of others' cutouts, I think this is normal.

Probably is. They call it 3" probably because its close or because Borla is a 3" system, not knowing its 3" at the I-pipe. But, as long as the fitment is there, that's what matters, right?

Yup, as long as it fits and doesn't jam up. I was running the ~2" plate previously anyways, so the current opening is still plenty larger. Maybe next time we head to the dyno, we can test it fully closed, wide open, and somewhere in between...then compare it to what ws6.com got

Sounds like a plan to me. I just got the new shifter plate for the console...looks awesome and the ash-tray cover stays put lol. So, you can leave the cut-out partially open? I thought it was all or nothing?

Sweet man. I'll check it out next time I see the Z.

The butterfly can be in any position which makes this mod pretty cool. Infinite levels of loudness
