What has you sold on 3rd Gens? I have nothing against them, but I picked up my 93 for only $5k with 101+k mi. on it and have been very happy. You could probably find a good 93 or 94 for about the same or cheaper.

Yeah, TKD has a lot of kicking, but there's more to it than that. Plus, some of the kicks are pretty cool (I used to get images in my head as I sparred about how I looked throwing a spin-hook to my opponents head lol). As for rank advancement, yes there are some schools that practice belt-male, but not all of them do and its not specific to one art that does it. My school toward the end starting doing it, which is why I left (and my instructor soon after). Take your time and make sure its the art you really want to go into. Take care.

I'm probably going to stay with an American car. I think the slowest i would go is a Probe GT because it's a sporty looking car with some pep in it or a Fiero (and that's only so i could do a motor/ tranny swap). I'd love a black Iroc but 305's don't appeal to me and driving auto bores me beyond belief. If i could get a nice condition 4th gen Z28 for cheap then i'd be set. Hopefully this deal goes down and i'm not stuck with a pipe dream. My mom thinks i'm nuts.

Hey Ken, wanna borrow one of mine?

You will regret that move... 4th gen z's are very cheap. I dunno steve, paying 5k for a 93 with 101k sounds kinda high Unless car costs are higher where you live.

I paid 6500 for a 97, 6 spd, t-top, 75000 miles. They're out there, you just gotta look man.. I see that you want a probe.... You will greatly regret that

You're also talkin almost 2 years ago. Blue book on it at the time was $6200 if I recall correctly. 10 yrs. old at 102k mi. is still under the 12,000 mi./yr. rate that is considered average (at least for around here). About 4 or 5 months ago I saw some down to about $4500 and cheaper that were in decent-good condition. How long ago did you buy your 97? What condition was the car in? How much maintenance needed to be done? How old is your Opti? Any problems with the pinion seal leak? Driveshaft droning? etc. etc. etc.

My buddy had a 95 Probe GT and he freakin loved that car to death. Took it everywhere (from NY to Philly and all kinds of other places.) and even said it got great gas mileage. I just like the body style. Out of everything i've seen, third gen Z28's outhandle my car which is kind of disheartening. I've seen an 89 Z with an LT1, Tremec T-56, cowl hood and i think a few other goodies. It was selling for something like $4,000. There are tons of cheap suspension mods i could do on a third gen. I could do them to my car too but i don't have enough. If i bought a $3,000 car and had $8,900 from selling my T/A, i'd still have $5,900. That would get me a cowl hood, an awesome suspension, upgraded brakes and i'd still have enough left over for weights, Jiu Jitsu lessons and car insurance. I could also skip the fancy stuff and just buy a supercharger or a nitrous system. My dad's thinking of getting another Viper. Oh how i'd love to be sitting next to him in a worked Camaro, purging nitrous and prepaing to race him. I've also been throwing around the idea of an TPI C4 Vette. They're pretty cheap now, they're light, handle awesome and... they're Vettes! I've heard that TPI isn't the best for making a fast car. I've been told that they're sucky for horsepower but great for torque. I don't know if this is true as many people swear by TPI. My buddy Nick told me that carburetures are the best for making big power but then other people say they're too primative. I'd prefer fuel injection as it's much easier to work with. Better fuel economy, won't take hours to adjust ( just have someone hook it up to a computer and tune it). If i ever got my hands on a turbo, from what Muscle Car Magazine says, trying to coordinate a turbo with a carbureted car is like getting a root canal while having bamboo shoots shoved under your fingernails. I'm not much of a fan of superchargers since that belt is constantly turning and sapping your gas mileage. A turbo doesn't have any effect until the boost kicks in. Nitrous is cool but since i'm absent minded, i'd get parts strong enough to handle the Nitrous and then forget to fill the tank. Or, if i ran out, i'd forget to refill it. I think that for a third gen, a supercharger or N2O would be cheapest as there are already parts specifically designed for them whereas every turbo i've ever seen on a third gen was a custom job.. I don't have the money to pay some guy to set up a custom turbo on a car like that. I'd love it though.

                  A Candidate

It never hit me until today. I have an 88 Formula just sitting there. It's ugly and the previous owner put on a hideous spoiler but the body is solid and has never been in an accident. One minor rust spot on it, needs brakes, tires, a new motor and a new tranny. Aside from that, it's pretty solid for a car with 112,000 miles on it. It has t tops too which my girlfriend loves. I was thinking of having my buddy give me an estimate on a motor and tranny swap. My only problem with him is that he loves to do things with carburetors and no emissions equipment. I also thought about buying his car. 89 Z, 350 with probably in the vacinity of 400 HP, Tremec T-5, Centerforce clutch (which a lot of you guys said you hate), custom exhaust, fresh paint, SFC's, dvd player, removed the back seats and turned the entire back area into a stereo setup, Corvette rims and tons of other stuff. Only problem is that it's a t-top car and the car's been in an accident. Even though the frame was straightened, this guy's tried everything to get the tops to stop leaking but nothing's worked. The t tops must have gotten messed up by the accident. No emissions stuff on the motor and no cats either so that's not a good thing. I love his car though. I've sat in it for a solid hour just looking at all the stuff he has in it- camera's, all kinds of swithces for his various goodies (manual fan controls, under neons (ugh, those would have to go), his camera that he has hidden in his tail light for some odd reason. It's a great car but not very practical. Loud, crap gas mileage, racing seats with a racing harness in place of seat belts which is apparently not legal My grandpa really wants to buy my car and he hates his more every time he drives it. For pictures of my Formula, check out my cardomain page. Thanks again guys.

Got that car back in May... Car was in good shape, had two bent rims that had to be replaced. It was perfect when I got it, except for the plastic thing that snaps in the shift boot.. A piece is broken off so it doesn't fit perfect but you can't really tell No leaks, opti is stock, thing runs like a bat outta hell. The car was pretty well maintained by the guy that had it before me. I know he hit a pot hole or something though, that's about it. Then again, when I bought this car the Blue book was about 9000. I was just saying there are some steals out there, you just gotta look.

I could never have gotten a loan if the car wasn't so underpriced. That's just my opinion though.
