  • rear end question

As I've mentioned before I need new axle shafts. They are both bent. Before I can go out and buy new ones I have to figure out what type of rear end I have and the gear ratio. It's a 10 bolt and I'm 90% sure it's posi. Auto trans and runs at about 2000 rpm at 75 in OD. It has 16" rims and stock tires. Any help would be appreciated.

look on the option code sticker for the car, and look for a GU wit a single digit after it. thats the gear ratio code. im not sure if they are the same for 3rd gens but 4th gens are pretty easy. gu4 is 2.73 gu5 is 3.23 and gu6 is 3.42 to see if it is posi look for a G80 that is a posi code. and you'll need to know spline count, newer cars are 28 spline, yours may be that or 26 spline. best way to tell is to take the 30mins and pop out an axle and count the splines.
