CVR Starter

Has anybody taken one of these starters apart? I've had mine for awhile(1year or so). We got all that rain here in SoCal and I got my opti wet, so I cranked on that starter for 15 minutes or so (I was stuck in the middle of the street). Ever since then it hasn't been the same. So I pulled it out opened it up and found the communtator all gunked up with brush gunk. So I cleaned it out cleaned off the armature and brushes. But I noticed 2sets of brushes (4 total). One set not even close to coming in contact with the armature what gives? I put it back together but it still is not spinning like when it new? Any ideas????
