  • REALLY Stupid Question

What the heck is an F-Body technically? I used to think it was the chassis, now I'm starting to think its just about any GM sports car. Its like... I'll try to find information on a brake swap (need to change front drum to discs) and I keep seeing F-Body so I click on it. And... WTF thats a late 90's car! Or at least thats what goes through my head.

Anyway, basically saying "Hello" and I hope this becomes a good source of information on restoring the '68. Have a long road ahead of me... and not enough money Have just enough to do the interior, get a new top, and hopefully enough get the car drivable. Drivable meaning SERIOUS engine cleaning and carb work, possibly new ECU harness (found many small peices of wire as I cleaned out the car), and a front disc conversion with a rear to follow in the future.

When I get more money I'll have the luxury of being able to pull the engine and rebuild it, change the transmission to auto possibly, and while rebuilding the engine have the car's dents and rust spots cut out and replaced with new metal then painted.

And if you havn't caught on yet, link is in the sig and the picture is clickable I would like for the PROJECT: Firebird website to have multiple galleries of other classic project cars. If anyone is working on restoring a classic, send me a PM and we'll try out giving you control of your own gallery. Don't want to take on more than a few at first as a trial run, though I don't expect demand for a gallery to be high to be honest.

BTW, I plan on scrubbing down the floorboards and hopefully get a new battery so I can attempt starting the car! If she runs, it'll be the first time in almost 10 years that I'll get to hear the glorius sound of a beastly V-8!

F-body is the chasis platform that a Camaro or Firebird were built on. There are 4 generations.

Thanks, I was mostly right, just confused when the distinction wasn't made between the different years.

'68 actually, or at least I think so. The front fenders of the 68 have wrap around turn signals, which this car does not have so I thought, "Nope, must be a 67." Then I noticed that the rear Pontiac turn signals are present and though, "Uh.... something must have been changed? Probably front fenders, so it must be a '68" and unless I'm mistaken, the 69 had a different front grill (which I don't care a whole lot for but thats probably because I'm a bit biased). And my dad said it was a '68 too

Someone at work has a mid 60's mustang, I'm going to try to set him up as an admin with his own gallery over the weekend. Hopefully I won't have to install a second instance of Gallery
