  • NFB Blown Speaker

No I'm not talking about politics. I just noticed that one of my
cheap-azz American-made Klipsch woofers is toast. Only thing, its
out of warranty by 10 years. It was up in 1995 since I bought it in
1990. I spent a lot of money to ship them over here. What is worse is that they quit making them a long time ago.
All I find on the net is this namby-pamby home theather stuff. I want
to get a big speaker with thump, no 6 or 8 inch woofer need apply.

    Any recommendations? No subwoofers please.

PS I think my roomate blew it when I was home on leave (open coil).

    Call these guys:

    http://www.madisound.com/

I get all my stuff from them... They deal mailorder.

They will ask you tons of questions about your speakers, and recommend replacement components. They deal in only high quality stuff.

Are you sure you can't buy replacement speakers from Klipsch? I wouldn't blame the quality of the speaker if your roommate blew it up - blame him!

What model speakers do you have? I've got a set of La Scala's.

I don't know what vehicle you are putting it in but, www.crutchfield.com, this place will ask year make and model, then tell you what is compattible with the stock system and what will fit in your car. If you want bass without a sub???... find a midbass that will fit your car and your budget. I have a buddy that has a couple of Infinity 6x9 midbass and they hit harder than any stock subs that I have ever heard.
