  • would I be crazy?

I have a 79ta that came with the 403 olds it needs to be rebuilt
and I have a 350 that I'm not using that and it runs.
So would I be crazy to put the 350 in instead of the 403?

Obviously, it would be a lot cheaper to do. Depends on your plans for the car, how nice the rest of the car is, how much money or time you have. You could always take your time doing the 403 while driving the car with the 350, then put it back in later.

You don't know what you're getting yourself into. First, the 403 is an olds motor. You didn't say, but I'm guessing the 350 is a chevy. They have different bolt patterns and will not interchange with the current transmission. Ditto for the exhaust and accessories. I would either rebuild the 403 or do what I did, drop in a 455. Same block and it will bolt right up to all your stuff like trans, exhaust, etc.

I was referring to the 350..... you didn't say that it was a Chevy or not. If it is an Olds 350, that would be a direct swap.
