Any sugestions on deciding what supercharger to throw on? I have looked around and Powerdyne seems to be reasonably priced, just wondering if any of you have them or could suggest another alternative for about the same price range($3000). Thanks.
There are all kinds of good set ups - I would definetely buy a new kit though. There are lots of units on e-bay that are used but you don't know if the system's been abused or mistreated. There's one brand that's actually belt-driven internally . . . I think it is Powerdyne. I've heard that they are self lubricating - no oil lines? And, the only thing you have to do is get it serviced every 50K - new belt and bearings. I could be wrong on some of the facts but I like the sound of not having to install oil lines.
There's also this guy that sells a "stealth mounted" turbo charger. The unit is mounted under the REAR of the car where the muffler would be. His pitch is that his kit eliminates the heat problems associated with under-the-hood units. Here's a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33742
I just prefer the under the hood units myself . . . .

I'm pretty sure that you could find a slightly better deal on an STS turbo system if you contacted them directly. www.ststurbo.com
There are ongoing debates over at LS1.com about STS vs. underhood turbo systems. Some like it, some don't.

I have a powerdyne supercharger on my Trans AM.The out put bearings went out on it at 500 miles. It has a 2 yr warranty but it can take as long as 3-4 weeks or more to get it back after you send it to them. They also have to determine if it was your fault or theres?.Me and a friend replaced the 2 bearings that were bad.It looked like the bearings simply failed. The bearings are high in price.I didnt trust the powerdyne bearings since they only lasted 500 miles, i found some aftermarket bearings rated at 50k rpm,i work at a parts business and at my cost they were $200.00 each.(from powerdyne i think they were $200-$250.00each) I now have 1000 miles on the new bearings and no problems. The supercharger is very quiet and no oil lines but if i had known about sts turbo i would have went that way i think. It just seems like every powerdyne unit you see has been refurbished or rebuilt??.Just my two cents, its possible i just had bad luck on mine.As far as performance goes it does make some horsepower, its a good gain for the money as long as it doesnt break.

Thanks for the links and info, but now I'm thinking I should probably run a rebuild on my engine. It currently has 155,000 miles on it. I don't want to put undo stress on a high milage engine.
