I hope the whole project doesn't get bought and shelved by those in control of the oil. This could make a huge impact in the whole world's energy consumption.

hmmm..... seems to me that the original kit with a stand alone supplimental fuel add on unit, use a turbo or supercharger to compress the air entering the engine...........should work just dandy.

That is exactly what I was thinking, and I have a feeling that is what will happen. I have seen these kids of things a million times before, and then all of a sudden you don’t hear anymore about it. I was very surprised though, when I saw that new kind of flashlight that you just shake and it lights up. I would imagine that the battery companies don’t like that one too much. Years ago, I saw in Popular Science magazine, this guy who had invented a battery charger for regular batteries. Then a short time later, I saw one in Toys R US for only $5.00. I wish I had bought one right then, because apparently it was taken back off of the market, because it wasn’t being sold there anymore, the next time that I went there, and I haven‘t seen it anywhere else. I can imagine that the inventor is doing alright now, financially speaking. The bottom line is, that there is always a better way to do everything in life.

Seems like a good Idea. Although I don't see the gov supporting too many ideas dealing with better gas mileage. Better gas mileage equals less tax revenue.

If for whatever reason they fight the odds and we do reduce our oil consumption, the government will come up with a way to make up for it somewhere. They always do.

They are already planning the “Smart Tag” Toll systems to be implemented all over the country, that will track everyone that drives, and collect money at the same time. Its just a RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) sticker or card that that allows you to just drive through toll booths and automatically be charged a toll. Some parts of the country already use this. If they do come out with the National ID card, which I’m sure they will, then that will work the same way. The voting problems that we have experienced since the 2000 election, has created a desire by some in congress, to have a voter ID card, which is still the same as a National ID card. I have no doubt that even the yearly car tag renewal stickers are going to have the RFID tags built in them in the near future. This will allow the government to track us easily through GPS, and the police can just point a scanner at your car, and get all of the info on the owner of the car. They already have a new camera system that automatically reads car tags in an instant, enabling the police to retrieve data on thousands of drivers per day, instead of just a few, as they did before. This isn’t “gloom and doom saying", its just facts.
So yes, they will figure out a way to get the money - one way or another.

RFID systems are already charging tolls. Personally I love it! In some places you don't even need to slow down and it'll read your tag. They do have to be careful with Privacy Info though. The police can and do use it to catch speeders on the Turnpike in NJ, but you'd have to be doing some SERIOUS speeding what with the traffic and all.

They use this in Illinois...it's called I-Pass. It looks like this little white box, and it velcrows right on to your dash, windshield, whatever...

The downside, like Joe K said, is that here in Illinois, they calculate how long it should take you to drive between tolls (speed limit is 55 mph, but I believe they give you a 5 mph cushion). If you happen to hit that next toll too soon...it's ticket time.

This is true...but...as much as I hate to say this next statement, I would accept it. If we, say, incresed our MPG's by double or triple, I wouldn't mind paying double or triple for gas. The way I look at it is the gov't is going to get our $$$ one way or another. If they absolutely have to, might as well give them the same amount of $$$ while helping out the environment at the same time.

Obviously, I would want the prices to stay the same...but we all know the gov't and oil companies would never let that one happen

Hmmm. As usual, I'm a bit skeptical.

I'll check out this claim and get back to all of you if and when I find out anything to verify the claims, but this is not the first of such claims I have read. It doesn't impress me when the claims are made in BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS, either.

One of the things that gives me pause is the claim that this invention can reduce "pollutants by up to 100 per cent." Anybody else smell something fishy here?

Changing the subject slightly, here's some new information regarding progress on oil shale.

. . . my experience with charging what you term as "regular" batteries was less than satisfactory. The batteries (especially carbon-zinc batteries) seemed to self-destruct after one or two recharges. Perhaps rechargeable batteries are of a different construction.

                              No flame intended.
