  • Question for late-model GTO owners (ie-Ken), I want a new car.

What sort of backseat room does it have compared to the f-body. Do the back seats fold down?

I currently drive an 04 Mountaineer, and I hate it. I hate it because it's a big a$$ SUV that I can't stand to drive. So, I have been thinking of buying a daily driven sports car. I 6 liter GTO sounds great, but can it stand up to daily driving in your opinion? (rain, very very little snow)

Would it be worth getting a O5 GTO for a daily driver, or should I think about a 4 door car. (Charger R/T, WRX, A4, etc..)

I realized that the cars I listed are very diffrent cars. Any opinions on a new car I should go test drive (within $30,000 roughly) would be appreciated.

*note- I need a back seat, no vette quite yet.
*note2- Don't want another F-bod, I'm young and want to be open minded and try new things.

2005 GTO, Quicksilver, 6-Speed, DynaTech LT's and thats it. 366.6 hp/366.7 tq last time I checked.

My honest opinion may step on a few toes. The GTO is a great car. If you plan on constantly putting people into the back seat, it's not very convenient. While there is plenty of room back there once you are in place, getting in and out is not quick and easy. Personally, I think that part is a poor design. But then again, if you want easy back seat access that's what 4 doors are for.

joes right, once your in....the seats in the back are awesome.....but d@mn what a hassle it is to get in there..........you wont believe it. heck...it frustrates me just climbing back there to clean the rear window.... other than that.......

Ok, I have to come out and say it. I'm not worried about people crawling in the back, my first vehicle was a Jeep Cherokee two door so I always had people climbing in and out. What i really need to know, compared to an 4th gen f-body. How does the rear compare because I plan on luging my big a$$ dog around when i need to. (which is like 2 times a month at most). So, ken does the back seat fold down?

I understand that it isn't very practical, but I NEED a sports car in my life right now.

The big issue with the GTO is that you have to move the seat front seat all the way forward to get someoone back there and then move the seat back. While they provide a button up high to do this, it is an extremely slow motor. For the 2006 GTO, they have an express feature. I am sure the 06 will be much easier to get into.

Have you considered the Pontiac Grand Prix GXP? It has the 5.3l V-8 with 303hp and 4 doors. If backseat space is a concern, it may be better suited to your needs than the GTO. Just a thought...

Grand Prix GXP's with 5.3L's seem to be turning in numbers close to or faster than an LT1 F-body with similar milage .

I think the issue with the GTO is for the electric seat to slide forward before you can access the rear seats. By all accounts it takes some patience.

Another issue for some people with the Grand Prix is FWD. Not many people want a front wheel drive V8. I understand torque steer isn't too prevelant, as GM worked hard to make sure that wasn't an issue, but it's still there.

If owning a rear wheel drive V8 isn't a proiority, the Grand Prix would probably be the more practical car, having four doors and FWD for inclimate weather.

                            Just another thought...

I dunno, man. Wolfman's GTO melts if it gets wet. I think you may have to cover it in plastic if the weather turns grey. Just a heads-up.
