You don't understand that, because you are a believer in Christianity, and not a hard-line, fundamentalist Muslim.

I guess what I mean is, I cant understand how any rational thinking educated person can justify the things they say. I dont see alot of Jews junning about blowing up all of their stuff.

Yep. The only conclusion one can come to is that they are not rational thinking, educated people. And I'll add to it that they certainly have no appreciation for how sacred a human life is.

I can see your point, but you would be suprised at how many of them are actually well educated. The problem stems from certain radical groups that take the origins of Islam and have altered the context and literally formed their own interpretation. To add to that problem, it is all about power. Each sect desires to have power and control over the other. Imagine what this country would be like if each branch of religion were at war with each other. The Baptists, Methodists, Catholic, etc all at war with each other, killing each other off under the guise that their religion is the proper one and everyone else should die because of blasphemy. Not seperating religion from ruling government only adds fuel to the whole fire. That is the basic scenerio That is what exists in the middle east under Islamic government. Each religious sect demands control and power, of them will yield to the other. If by some miracle they start to get along, then their aggression will turn toward the outside world because the do not recognize anyhting outside of their own interests and religions. Compromise is not in their vocabulary. Their society is rapidly becoming like a cancer.

You are right though...... they have no appreciation for life itself.

Joe your analysis is pretty good. I've been over here for 3 years now and I have to add some more qualifiers.

            Honor is first
            Then comes family
            Then tribe
            Then Sect (Sunni or Shite)
            Then Country
            Then Islam
            Then Arab brotherhood

Hatred of Israel is the universal thread that binds.

They do value life. You are wrong in that statement.

I have some very cool Arab friends, but they were educated in the West (or contaminated depending on your viewpoint).

For me it's gotten to a point where I *wish* they would "bring it on" to a degree that would give us an excuse to completely destroy them. The problem would be gone then. Case closed.

[QUOTE=Joe 1320]And the situation gets worse........ I'm telling you folks, this is going to get ugly.

I read in a brittish editorial after this started, that Bush required about ten times the size of army in Irak to control that country. In the same way a worst scenario could be the oil price going above $100/barrel and the escalating cost driving a bad economics for americans and the western world.

Now the big "what if" would be leaving the country whitout any strong government would give all the chances to anti-western muslims to take over the whole region . Then what? What would be next?

My position was always that getting into Irak was a bad idea, especially for you, my american friends. I have the chance to meet and work with many of you and this really worries me.

Sorry I would prefer to leave Saddam in power and avoid all the american deaths and problems coming from this. It is my opinion that the so vast and complicated arab world should be left alone than try to teach them a better way of leaving. All societies need time to change and learn. By themselves.

I remember the opinion of the brittish historian Arnold Toynbee during those sixties cold war years, where he took a view of the communist Yugoslavia of dictator Josip Broz Tito, who served as a barrier for the soviet expansion in Europe, which indeed made a great political contribution for peace during the cold war just staying right there.

Same case in his opinion with Vietnam , that with a socialist government could be as they indeed did, a barrier for Mao chinese expansionism. He said the vietnam war could be avoided as there was no need to defeat Tito in Yugoslavia. The vietnamese think that they could withstand the american war machine thanks no to the chinese neighbouring superpower, but to the soviets.

International politics and diplomacy failed this time to obtain an acceptable solution without war.

It seems our politicians don´t want to understand that this is not just a suicidal terrorism issue, but a global advanced rich societies-retarded poor societies struggle. And the only solution would be to integrate all aspects in to one. A very very complex problem. Take a look to all inmigration problems all around the world.

                          Sorry. Thankyou.

                          Lordvader.
