I gave myself some time to let it settle in. For the poll I voted, Its OK.
First, I am not a fan of the retro thing lately, and prefer modern packaging for modern performance (ie 3rd to 4th gen F-body transisiton, and modern vettes). With that in mind, I do feel this is one of the best looking retro designs out there and they probably could not have done better IMO unless it was not retro.
Second, I was in love with the interior until I saw the stright on view. It is just too overwhelming, but like others said it will probably change. I was also very much liking the low, center console guages from way back (hope that part stays).
Third, I predict that GM will blow it (but I hope not). Time from concept to production will be too long. The top performance version will cost too much. And it will end up as a collectors car for f-body fans, and not an affordable street brawler with the best price/performance ratio. In other words, I don't see them stealing much market share from the Mustang, import, or other popular enthusiast crowds. Think about it, do you really think any 400+hp car is going to come in at a lower cost than a current GTO? I'd rather just step up to vette. Not to mention that 400hp by 2009 may not be that impressive. There are a lot of vehichles at that level now, and we would certainly prefer that our cherished f-body be at least a tick fast than its direct $$$ competitors. Do we even need to talk about the marketing foolishness were in for? Remember the Vette commercial that got pulled during the Olympics? Awesome commercial, pulled by pressure from responsibility weenies.
Fourth, and I really wanted to start a new poll about this one (I might):
If the car you see could be had for $22,000 fully loaded, but had to be built in China to meet that price, would you buy one??
BTW, is there any info about where they might actually be made?
