I'm temporiarily home just to let the rugtats outside. My sister is doing as well as can be expected. I have to hurry and get back because they are about to break her water so that she can deliver the baby. I think that's going to be one of the worst parts.

The Chaplin came in and asked my sister a really gut wrenching question. She asked my sister if she wanted to see her baby, Casen Gauge, after she delivered him. At first my sis said no, but then after some thought and some encouragement from us, she decided that would be the only way to get proper closure. This is a real punch in the gut for me, I can't even begin to imagine what my sis is going through. But she is super tough , and the doctors have all told her that this should not affect her in any negative way for future pregnancies.

Thanks so much everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I'll keep you guys updated.

Sorry to hear the bad news

My wife and I have lost two so far both very early in pregnancy. (still very hard) But to lose a baby that far into the pregnancy is very hard to swallow. I wish you and your family the best and like everyone else here, if I can do anything for ya let me know.

Just got back home. I'm running off fumes. As you know, the nurses come in and out every 20 minutes or so to check on her. So.. zip for sleep last night. My sister is physically OK, and she is even doing pretty well mentally considering the circumstances. She was just released from the hospital to go home and get the rest that she deserves so much. She just needs to rest now and have some time to collect herself.

I think the doctors and nurses were really overwhelmed at the amount of people that were there for my sister. I told everyone there that my awesome friends on f-body.com were praying for my sister, and they really appreciated that. So thanks again everybody. It means so much for people you have never even met to include someone they have never met in their thoughts and prayers.

                  Luv you guys....

I heard an interesting stat a few years ago. Something like 52% of all 1st time pregnancies end in something other than live births. I found that out when I was getting my security clearance and found out my mother had a still birth before my oldest sister was born. No one in the family even knew it.
From what I gathered, her doctors essentially said the same thing. That there are so many still births and miscarriages that go without the rest of the family knowing.

In my sister's case, they said the umbilical cord was slightly thicker in diameter than normal, and had become wrapped around the baby's neck. This, they say, is apparently not all that uncommon unfortunately.

Your sister will need you all now more than ever. Don't give her to much time alone.

She was just so tired and emotionally drained. But, I agree with you. We are going to be right by her side for a while to come.

We already were able to get viewing and grave site service for her and her husband tomorrow. They wanted it that way. It's tomorrow at 1 PM. I hope I can catch a few ZZZZ's tonight.
