That cam only record that Rodney Naquin holds (10.23 @ 130.95) was done on bone stock heads and bottom end with the T-Rex cam and Crane valvesprings. That is not even that big of a cam. Moderate, but by no means huge.

Well when I said cam only, I meant cam only. Stock heads, stock bottom end. There are two young guys here in San Antonio with stock heads and bottom end with a moderate cam running low 11's.

Like Casey said, the LS1 just does not get enough credit. It is an awesome animal.

Here is a vid of Rodney's record breaking run:

And it's a 6=speed - so it can be done! LOL.

      Launching these things is tricky.

      Nice vid!

You've seen Dan Taber's HPE built car haven't you? It also has a bone stock bottom end, but with worked LS1 heads, and a small 228/232 112 LSA cam, through a th350 and 9" rear.

It has run a best of 9.64 @141 so far. He really doesn't have that much weight reduction either from what they say.

It means that the LT1 is heavier than the LS1 - that is why LT1>LS1

              HAHA.

Last I checked, Mighty Mouse has the highest trap for a 6-speed car. I believe he's gone north of 160.

                Unbelievable.

You'll appreciate this Jay - a friend of mine just picked up an 03 Cobra. He sold a 2000 WS6 Formula - what a traitor! He and I are going to go at it at the track May 12th. His car is near stock - just CAI and cat back. No "ricer" or street racer games here - "no hidden mods" (hmmmm...I do have time to slide a 75 shot on there...lol). I am really looking forward to it - the guys in the club are already talking about it.

                      That's sweet!!!

I can't believe he made the switch. I realize it's a faster car - but has such a pathetic driver's experience, I couldn't stand it. Oh well, to each his own.

With your mods, and him being stock, I think this could be a GREAT result for you!!!!

Yep - I should handle him - his car should dyno 390-420 at the wheels. However, the Cobra is heavier and is on an IRS. Of course I am on the 10 bolt. It should be a close race. He thinks his car will run low to mid 12s with a trap in the teens. I ran a 12.90 with a 2.33 60 fyt time at 115 something. If I can nail the launch I should be good.

I need to knock him off before he gets the smaller pulley and ported blower. I will need spray to keep up next year.

yuk yuk yuk,.... what makes him think low to mid 12s? Is he running DRs?

I'd be shocked if he ran that on street tires, with those mods... unless he's John Force.

Knowiung him he will probably be on D/Rs

His 2000 Formula WS6 is where I got all of my parts, cam and such. With my set up, exactly, he ran a 12.00 at 116. My car dynos a bit stronger than his did but is probably a bit heavier. He is a pretty good driver.

If I can get that 60 down to 2.0x or even 2.1X I will be thrilled. Should put me around 12.50 - I would LOVE to be able to say that on street tires.

(Sorry for the thread highjack - what was this thing about anyways?)
