Not to turn this into another religious debate thread, but isn't Satan all about finding pleasure in sinning and things of that nature? Why would he punish people who rebel against his arch enemy? If anything, wouldn't he embrace these people?

Well, according to the Bible, Satan has zero control over who goes to Hell and who goes to Heaven. It is completely up to God. Homosexuality is not tolerated by God at all.

Yes, I was taught in church (Baptist) that while pop culture may show Satan running things in hell, the scriptures are clear that Satan will merely be one of the punished in the eternal hellfire. The picture that was installed into my young mind was a place forever on fire, where the worm liveth, devoid of God (can an omnipresent God do that? ), where one suffers and forever relives the regrets of a sinful life in solitude, cut-off from contact with anyone. Interestingly, we were also taught that the fire was not the real punishment...the real punishment is eternal separation from God.

btw...I am agnostic now.

back to the classroom...

they need to teach kids how to read, write and reckon...plain and simple leave things like morals, ethics, religion, etc. to the parents. Here all the kids do in school is prepare for FCAT tests which determine funding for the school. That's the cart driving the horse, IMHO. A child who is proficient in language and math skills should do well on any assessment test.

also, science should not be dumbed down because a few who misinterpret it find it offensive.

The NEA was forced to drop their proposal to endorse homosexuality

Important NEA update: Your Efforts Made A Difference, NEA Changes Paragraph.

Because of the efforts by AFA Online supporters, the National Education Association was forced to drop their proposal to endorse homosexual marriage.

Within hours of AFA Online's alert, the NEA had removed the original proposal and replaced it with a new one. The original paragraph under section B-8 Diversity read as follows:

The Association believes that legal rights and responsibilities with regard to medical decisions, taxes, inheritance, adoption, legal immigration, domestic partnerships, and civil unions and/or marriage belong to all these diverse groups and individuals.

Due to the response from AFA Online supporters, the NEA immediately changed that paragraph to read as follows:


The Association also believes that these factors should not affect the legal rights and obligations of the partners in a legally-recognized domestic partnership, civil union, or marriage in regard to matters involving the other partner, such as medical decisions, taxes, inheritance, adoption, and immigration.
