It's weird that you're surprised that your stock LT1 couldn't hang with a blown cobra! And what do you mean it's been "chipped"?? These cars don't get "chips"...

Even if you didn't have sand in the trunk the outcome would probably be the same.

Don't fret though - there's PLENTY of mods for your LT1 if ya got a big piggy bank

OT - I raced a blown Cobra in the early summer at the drag strip. He got a big head start - but my little fire-breather reeled him in and passed him at about the 3/4 way mark They are pretty quick though.

93s are the only 4th Gens to have swappable chips.

Well, I wasn't suprised he beat me, just ashamed I lost to a ford, any ford I would have been sad, even if it were a Ford GT (I know way to many rabid ford people, almost frothing at the most its so bad). I had a good idea barely, every time I race someone at a stop light I'll kick my friends out of the car and pick em up later, you know, less weight

A former coworker of mine with an '01 cobra, with just a pulley change, and some other minor mods, used to beat me all the friggin time when we headed up to the 1/4 in NH. I was running 13.8's (no more 13's these days )on street tires to his running 11.5's . He'd line up with me, deliberately wait 2-3 seconds for me to go, and catch up and pass me in the 1/4 just to irritate me . Morale: Not all fords are slow and not all ford drivers are ignorant of the competition and know how to beat you and me.

Make me feel better that a Comp T/A lost to one too. Yeah, some ford people are cool. About the Cobra's though, one thing that they don't really get, our cars are so much better looking it almost comical.

yea they look like shoeboxes on wheels. I'd like to see one of them go around a corner ha! they have no lines. one huge advantage they have is the optional 32V DOHC. I wonder why GM never got into OHC.

I thought only 03's and 04's were boosted? perhaps he threw on a supercharger?

I used to have challenges by a guy in an 03 Cobra quite frequently. He was pretty cool. I was in my 02Z06. I'd get him almost every time but I didn't walk him hard. I'd get him by a few cars. The 03/04 Cobras are quick in stock form. However, most are not stock. Not too many stock or lightly modded LT1 cars will hang with an 03/04 Cobra. However, I think they can hang with a non supercharged Cobra.

Man, I might sell my soul for an 2002 last of the breed, then I wouldn't have to worry about any stock cobra, almost any stock car for that matter. Shockwave, HAHAHA Mustang--handling? LOL

I had an 02 WS6 - somewhat modded (345 rwhp). An 03 or 04 Cobra still held a slight advantage - not by much - but it did.
