  • Finally made a decision on a motor for the 68

Well its been almost 4 months since I bought the 68 Camaro roller and today I finally made the last decision on the motor for it.
I started out with a little 461". Changed my mind and decided on a 496. Since then it has grown by leaps and bounds, talk about nuts.
I recieved my Dart Big M block a few weeks ago and was deciding how big to go with it. I had bought a 4 1/4 stroke crank and rods for it and was going to build a 565. Today I ordered the full rotating assy for it and went for the 4 3/4 stroke to build a 632. The heads I have are well done and should support that size motor pretty well to about 6 or 7 thousand rpm.
So ends my little car to go have some fun with. I don't believe the chassis can handle much more but I guess I will find out.

Bought the car as a roller with a dana 60 in it, ladder bars, coil overs, 14" slicks, full frame, and wheelie bars attached. It has a 14 point cage and is certified to 8.50. Despite all that it may not be able to handle this motor on spray. I think it will run 5s in the 1/8 on motor after dialing it in. Should be fun though as I am going way further than I originally planned, as usual.

            Big M

Will definetly video it when done. Keeping the front end on the ground will be a challenge as it is a ladder bar car and I don't know how to set one up. I still have many videos of the Beretta. Just don't know how to transfer it online. Will need help on that.

I have figured out how to put pixs on so here is a big M block in a box.

Looks cool man, any idea what the Dart block weighs compared to a GM block?

This particular block weighs 250 lbs. due to the 4.6 bore size, as you go down in size to 4.25 bore the weight increases to 280 lbs due to thicker cylinder walls.
I do not know the weight of a GM block but I imagine it would be a little lighter as this block has scalloped water jackets and a few other features that add a little weight. Probably within 20 lbs though.
