There is enough room in this country for many more people. I don't see the problem. They have just as much right to be here as anyone else. This country was founded on immigration. Most immigrants are motivated people that come here to work and have a better life. Illegal immigration is one thing, but legit immigrants, I don't see what the problem is.

Thanks for pissing me off Ken.

raroZ28 Are you kidding? There isn't any more room where I live. As a matter of fact my wife and I are planning on going to the mountains this weekend to search out our future refuge. I don't see how where I live will be livable in the distant future.

How long ago was that video made? We are already at 300 million, so we are WAY ahead of that chart, so just think how many panels he'd have if those numbers were restructured!!!!

I don't have any problem with immigrants. Some of the hardest workers I've ever me were immigrants. The problem is a) illegal immigration and b) ALL politicians (democrat and republican) not wanting to even breathe on the concept of immigration control for fear of losing votes.

So how do you solve it? A) build the fences and amp up border patrol to stop illegal immigration and B) stop trying to do nothing but cover your own butt and save your job and pass legislation that actually makes a difference. Oh yeah, and C) stop giving the world to people who do nothing but make babies and never work and force them to get a job.

Just think, all this guy is saying is revert laws. He could be saying forced abortions or severe population controls like China has had to do just to slow down their popluation problem.

Obviously this is a major problem facing this country. Why should we be responsible for the rest of the worlds overpopulation. Bring the immigration levels back to 1965 levels and stop the madness.
Birth control is the answer, most politicians do not want to respond to this problem.
China introduced birth control to its country many years ago. I child per couple thats it. Other countrys should follow suit and back it up as China did.
The video told of the problem in detail. It must be stopped now.

The world's population is not a problem, and won't be for centuries. I studied population growth for wayyy too long in my GEOG 104 class. The problem lies with border control, security and the economy. China however, is one part of the world where there arent enough resources to go around. Im not referring to food or shelter, but to education and healthcare. Thats why only the first child in the family gets those benefits.

              this is the problem:

              Meanwhile, MSNBC recently reported that:

Poverty follows families to the suburbs

Suburban poor outnumber their inner-city counterparts for the first time

              Updated: 1:29 p.m. ET Dec 7, 2006

WASHINGTON - As Americans flee the cities for the suburbs, many are failing to leave poverty behind.

The suburban poor outnumbered their inner-city counterparts for the first time last year, with more than 12 million suburban residents living in poverty, according to a study of the nation’s 100 largest metropolitan areas released Thursday.

“Economies are regional now,” said Alan Berube, who co-wrote the report for the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank. “Where you see increases in city poverty, in almost every metropolitan area, you also see increases in suburban poverty.”

here's what i posted to this very same thread on another board.
keep in mind, you may not of laid your life on the line for your country, or your father may not have fought in 4 wars......and you many not have fought to rise yourself finacially to get where you are, to live the "American dream", make your ends meet and have things come together, only to have this:\

I've been talking with friends and family about this for years. Being a Fed., living in the DC metro area suburbs... ie: long away subs, ie: 49 miles from the core... and living 2 miles from the east coast North to South interstate, that connects Maine with Fla....and Fla to Maine......, I have seen the tremendous impact on traffic, both interstate.....and now local. I have been observant, and notice the number of immigrants that are contributing to that traffic, to the grocery lines, the help seeked at professional services, at state run offices......everywhere.......

and, I do NOT blame immigrants.......I DO blame our Govt., our Congress, our Senate....... our do nothing politicians that just seek the most votes, no matter how they can conger them up.....

When I arrived here in Stafford VA in 1990...there was nothing but fast food places and gas stations. but it was the closest county to DC i could live that allowed wolfdogs, and ....for your money, you could get twice the house you could living "up North" closer to the DC area... so we bought. $131K for a 4 bedroom, two story, two car garage, living basement, right at 1/4 acre living quarters. We are located in a nice court, with only 4 other houses, great neighbors....considerate people living American style.

The county became the 4th fasted growing county in the U.S. in 2003......, our house jumped to being worth over 380K........shopping centers came in, all kinds of professional services started comming in, traffic got heavier..., Govt workers from the DC metro area "saw the light" and started selling thier now inflated homes and moving down here to buy an even bigger house, but much less money than they would have to pay up "North"......Stafford had become "middle income America" supreme....the locals still flurished...good old boys, some farms, some craftsmen... Wal Mart even came in.

then just less than a year and half ago......things started changing.......immigrants started comming in by, and i'm not kidding, the hundreds..... our neighbors to the left saw what was happening first ... she is an instructor at the FBI Accadamy, located only 8 miles from us, and he is an arson investigator at a county near DC.... they sold. and moved to a 55 and over community farther south.. who bought it? an immigrant family...young guy, his wife, with 3 kids. I asked my neighbor...how could they afford that? he said "i dont know, but he did qualify and we got our money"...the house sold for 365K, its smaller than ours but has an inground pool. guess what? now there are 3 families living there, the lower half occupied by the other two, young couples in their early 20's both with a kid..... ricers cars.... parked everywhere in our court. trash left on the lawns... loud parties on the weekends.... the house across the court? sold for 434K.... same thing...now 4 families live there. they park the cars all over the yard on the weekends......under the trees. down at the end of the street...same thing... two times the county made them remove the junk cars. 3 times the sheriff was called for disorderly conduct on sat night during parties.

We keep to ourselves.... they leave us alone so far. but they leave trash in the court and im constantly picking it up as it blows in our yard... and asking they move some of the ricers from out of in front of my house so i can park my commuter van there, where it belongs and not in my driveway blocking our other two vehicles.........

so what happens when ken and mary want to sell finally and leave here? who , other than the immigrants that live like that, is going to come and look at our well kept house, now selling for over 435K and buy it......in this environment? nobody in their right mind. im not saying that immigrants are not "in thier right mind"...Im saying that the "normal suburban American life style hunter" will not buy..........

the notorious M13 gang, which has been primarily operational 10 miles south and west of DC has been spotted here now....and has been busted and commited some felonies.......

our county is being consumed as if it were a cancer...

again, this is not ment as a slam to any race or any immigrant on this forum...its the just plain truth, spoken with no exagerration, folks. the truth.

our "American dream" has been washed, as far as living here. upon retirement, we will sell, take our losses, and get the hell out of here. and you can bet im doing a ton of research on where to live that wont be letting this happen before i die. someplace that does not have alot of jobs and opportunity that lends itself to this, a place where we can put up our wolfdog bording and golden retriever boarding facility as we planned..

if this problem is continued to be ignored, traffic gridlock in every major metroplex and schools and professional services and you name it is going to be a nightmare...life will be spent in lines, and trying to get from A to B......and many suburbs will end up a "different type of place".

Scared? your damn right I am. I've been watching it for a long time. its on steriods now.

                We have a serious problem.

                peace.

"There is enough room in this country for many more people."

You're right, but consider the consequences. More pollution, more urban sprawl, more traffic, more crime, more of everything except quiet places and parks to enjoy.

I'll just say this. Remember in the Matrix when the agent is talking to Morpheus, classifying humans as a virus, that multiplies and consumes all resources then moves somewhere else and continues the trend? Sometimes all it takes is a simple drive to the grocery store to see how that statement is becoming more and more true.

And population control is the answer, but NOBODY wants to ask the question to hear that answer. There's too many people in the world now, just imagine how it's going to be in another 30 years or so. And no, I'm not saying abortion is right, I'm saying people need to practice safe sex or stay abstinent. No conception, no baby, no arguments.

We're fortunate to have been born here.

Why do others not deserve the same opportunities that we have? This land shouldn't be reserved for those who were born here. This is the land of opportunity for everyone.

This land is the most plentiful in all resources, economy wise and opportunity. Nobody in this country as an individual is any better than anyone else anywhere in the world. We can't pick and choose who we allow to come over here, so there is no real solution, how will we determine who gets to come here and who doesn't? Space isn't a problem, neither are resources. We have enough resources to fuel and feed the entire world. Just because somebody was born in another country, they have to suffer in the crappy environment they were born in? Why, when there is room enough for them to come here and enjoy a more comfortable life?

And there is nothing special about anybody in this country, or our govt. or the way we run things. This land is the best land in the world in it's resources. No other country compares, that's the only reason we're so fruitful. We have everything here. How many other places have the natural resources we have?

The biggest problem I have is immigrants sneaking over and using our great country's resources and benefits, all without paying a dime towards taxes.

The point has been made that we have all these opportunities and other countries do not. That is very true. However, why is it they have to come here? There's a solution, although it is not simple.

                            FIX YOUR OWN COUNTRY!!!

These governments are corrupt, stealing money from the citizens. There is strength in numbers, and I can see most of these countries doing better with an overthrow. Again, not simple, but our forefathers did that very thing here against the British.

Of course, it's easier to flee to a country already "fixed" of most of these issues, and not worry about their own countries.

That's what I have an issue with.

Normally I would keep quiet, but I'll tell you what I have issues with. (flameproof suit is on and ) Down here in Florida I have watched developments over the last 30 years and I'm pissed. Little by little, Mr. and Mrs. Senior Citizen dies off and the property/ home is sold. First to someone a little younger, then it's sold again when they move away due to business transfers, upgrading, etc...... That last sale is to Mr. and Mrs. latino immigrant who decides to make it their family residence. That by itself is no problem, but their "family" includes; Grandma and Grampa, 3 sisters and their husbands, plus a couple of cousins along with their kids. What starts as single family dwellings with maybe a family of 3 or 4 turns into a literal multi family dwelling that houses 12 people. The neighbors get pissed and one by one, move away. As they do that, more foreign families pool their money and the cycle picks up speed. I've watched countless middle class neighborhoods go down the toilet without any end in sight. A few years ago, I visited what was a nice middle class neighborhood in Ft. lauderdale where I lived in the early 70s. We left as the above mentioned practice started to take hold. I didn't even recognize the place, it looked like a war zone/crack house central. Wrecked cars parked everywhere, bars on the windows when there were windows...... many just contain plywood. Wring from spray cans all over buildings, trash strewn about.........I've watched this process over and over in the last 30 years and I'm getting sick of it. Before anyone even tries to play a racist card toward me...... forget it. My girlfriend is Puerto Rican, so do even go there. Even now, when I bought my home in 94 it was a retirement area and I was one of the lone younger people who moved into the area. Now, on my block half of the families are from Latino background and it's picking up speed. Don't even get me started on the illegal immigrants from mexico that work in the orange groves and other fields. I usually get stuck behind a regular passenger van containing 12 Mexicans doing half the speed limit virtually every day. It makes be shiver to think that it's doubtful that any of them even have a driver's license. They show up at malls, the local Walmart, the grocery store in a large ex-schoolbuses and decend upon the store. None of them speak a word of English yet they are allowed to work, drive and god knows what other services that they participate in that is funded by you and me. The money greedy grove owners could care less as long as they can pay them cheaply and under the table. It's a nightmare that isn't going to go away.

There needs to be some serious attention focused on this cycle. I know people that are retiring here in the states some are moving to other countries. Why? It seems like everyone else wants to come here, yet we can take our accumulated wealth and retire like royalty in other countries. There is a problem with that, folks. Until the rest of the world comes up with standardized economics and policies, we're all going to get bought out, squeezed out and forced to move elsewhere. I know that if I were to retire and move elsewhere, I would learn the language. Ya know the old statement "When in Rome......." I damned sure wouldn't expect a foreing country to convert everything to the American language just to suit me. I damned sure wouldn't expect handouts or aid, I would become one of their population.
